The world's democracies has 30 days to stop the dictator #Putin declaring a victory in the #Donbass region of Eastern Ukraine on May 9th (Russia's annual V Day). #StopPutinNOW #ArmsforUkraine #holdtheline #SaveUkrainianLives
Not a inch of Ukrainian territory must be seized by Putin and the Kremlin. The future of Europe rests with what we do in the next 30 days. The dignity and lives of Ukrainian women, children, old and disabled depends on it. It's that simple. Tell our leaders now...#holdtheline
Our leaders failed us by allowing Russia to seize the #Crimea in 2014 and looked away whilst Ukrainian forces fought hard and protected us against Russian backed rebels over 8 year of bloody civil war that cost the lives of over 1,000 brave Ukrainian military in one battle alone.
Ukraine is not the just the #borderland of its English translation and Putin's ambitions of a greater imperial Russia. It is not the spoils of a Russian land grab. It is a proud, free, independent and democratic country and nationstate. It is #Ukraine..unbroken and resolute!🇺🇦
The UK, EU and the US must now adopt a much tougher stance with those countries that are showing support for Russia's invasion of #Ukraine starting with the #Hungary and #Bulgaria who are content to remain satellite states of Putin's sphere of influence. #India #ShameOnYouIndia
Personally, I am boycotting all goods made in any of the countries who are effectively condoning #Genocide in #Ukraine. #India and #Pakistan must make their minds up as to whether they are on the side of humanity, peace and democracy or war criminals and dictators like #Putin.
Its simply not good enough that the likes of #Hungary and #Bulgaria avail of the benefits of EU membership yet remain loyal allies of #Putin. They are the fifth column of Russia's presence in Europe.
#Hungary cannot be trusted to side with the rest of Europe in event of any Russian attack on Nato territory whilst #ViktorOrban is in charge. That he has been returned to office for a fourth term is bad news for any alliance amongst EU leaders against #Russian expansionism.
#Bulgaria is not much better. Despite Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Petkov declaring it no longer is 'soft on Russia', it has some of the deepest ties to Moscow of any country in the EU.
#Bulgaria's politicians have historically been notorious for trying to integrate more deeply into the EU and NATO, while simultaneously staying cozy with the Kremlin.
#Bulgaria has witnessed widespread corruption amongst its political elite back as far as 2008 so it's questionable whether its loyalties are to Europe and the EU or down to which side offers it the best deal in terms of most money and political favours.
The other concern for EU leaders is the poor record of the Bulgarian state in protecting its own national security including important files/documents from Russian Hackers including EU plans which reportedly have been known by Russian intelligence before they are even implemented

Excellent view of why ethnic Russians resist accepting the truth of Putin’s War in Ukraine. I’m struck by the strong echoes of similar resistance by Brit-centric loyalists in Northern Ireland to the introduction of the native Irish language. @olga_chyzh
There is quite a degree of truth that this is happening not just in Ukraine but everywhere that minorities hold on to the mother language of the once great colonial power by resisting any movement towards what they deem as an inferior language using all manner of excuses.
Take the British sponsored propaganda that surrounded the Bloody Sunday and Ballymurphy massacres in Northern Ireland which preceded Bucha in Ukraine by 50 years but has distinct similarities.

Its really disturbing that religion is being weaponised by both Putin and the more conservative leaders of the Russian Orthodox Church. Putin is reported as seeing himself as the defender of the christian faith against the increasing liberal values of western society.
Putin visits a 10th Century monastery north of St Petersburg as well as a monastery in Moscow situated around the corner from the offices of the FSB, Russia's successor to the KGB giving it its reputation as being the favourite church of the KGB.
The monk Bishop there is rumoured to be his personal confessor and allegedly a form of Godfather to Putin. His divorced wife also worshipped there. Putin himself observes all the ritual of being a member of the Orthodox Church but whether he is truly a believer is not known.

Western leaders should be ashamed that they have failed to provide Ukraine with the most up-to-date aircraft such as the F-15 and F-16 fighter jets that The Ukrainian Airforce desperately need and have requested. @JoeBiden @EmmanuelMacron @OlafScholz @BorisJohnson @AndrzejDuda
This beautiful young woman and hero of Ukraine might well have been alive today had the west responded to the call for urgent help. Do western leaders really need to be reminded of their obligations to Ukraine under the 1994 Budapest Memorandum on Ukraine’s security?
Perhaps another reminder of the Ukrainian Airforce’s shopping list might refresh your memory @BorisJohnson @EmmanuelMacron @JoeBiden @OlafScholz @AndrzejDuda

As a six ship Navy, Ireland will become a sitting duck for aggressors and a bargain basement for potentially terrorist organisations looking to buy its decommissioned warships. One-third of Naval Service fleet to be decommissioned
via @IrishTimes
irishtimes.com/news/ireland/i…
This is the worst possible time for Ireland to decommission or deplete it’s Naval Defence capability. It is left with little deterrence in event of being attacked by a foreign power. We need significant expansion of its naval, army and airforce defence forces instead.
If the problem as cited is down to lack of successful recruitment then it needs to up its game and make naval recruitment a priority backed by attractive salaries and better career opportunities for Ireland’s young people which in turn would reduce unemployment.

Russia must not be allowed to split Ukraine into two otherwise it will come for the rest of Ukraine at a later date. #SlavaUkraine
Putin’s strategy in recognising the Donbass breakaway regions is to gain an important foothold in Ukraine. Ukraine is not like Georgia which he treated as a colony - it is much more personal and synonymous with his conviction that Ukraine is an integral part of the greater Russia
Therefore Putin doesn’t see Ukraine as part of his sphere of influence if he can only control part of it. It is debatable whether he would be happy with any guarantee of neutrality as any form of democratic government would still be perceived as a threat to Moscow’s control.

Log of major Russian Disasters while under Putin’s watch:

1. Kursk Submarine Disaster - 12th August, 2000 - loss of all 118 crew

2. Moscow Theatre Hostage Crisis -23rd October, 2002. Loss of life - 171 died

👇
3. Beslan School Siege - 1st September, 2004 - 333 died of which 186 children - 783 injured

4. Let’s not forget the Moscow Apartment Bombings in September, 1999 - more than 300 dead and over 1,000 injured when Putin was head of the KGB and responsible for Russia’s security. 🤨
Yet Russian state media portrays Putin as the penultimate fixer and Russian strongman who gets things done yet the true account of these disasters reveals a history of Putin incompetence and lack of accountability in resorting to violence rather than negotiating better outcomes.
