Pretty disappointed with how #TheBusiness portrayed me. I told a much larger story than this, and though it is well summed up with an angst around affordability that doesn’t go away, including rent, petrol, food, essentials (not mentioned) it was so much more than that. #auspol
There was no mention of the #RoyMorgan #unemployment statistic of 8.5%, nor that the ABS figure of 4% is fanciful in not counting anyone as unemployed who works just one hour a week, or has weeks off having worked in the gig economy, or who is sick, injured, etc. #auspol
That employees are working those #jobs created by the need to clean up after the recent #floods. That right now employment going down - is to be expected - as the #casual labour market has soaked up the extra workers needed and under and unemployed people have stepped up. #auspol
Is the ABC having trouble speaking truth to power? I think this one of the most important questions to ask. It was a thirty minute interview with a lot of questions. It would be great if she’d actually covered most of what was said. Like the challenges of casual underemployment.
Like the fact you report earnings to @Centrelink every fortnight. Then at $256/fn earning the rate of JobSeeker is cut by sixty cents in the dollar. From earnings of $150/fn to $256 it’s fifty cents in the dollar. By the time you earn $540/ week you’re even. #Jobseekers #Casual
It was approx 30 minute interview with a lot of questions. It would be great if she’d actually covered most of what was said. When I told @RachelPupazzoni I was far more inclined to follow Roy Morgan’s figures - she didn’t like that. It’s fair criticism. It absolutely is. #auspol
The Business, 14 April 22, 8:45pm. ABC iView and possibly repeated later tonight on ABC 24.

If I don’t work I don’t pay the rent. What do I want? To reenrol and complete my double degree, to keep working - I must to ensure the essentials are covered. It’s not guaranteed. Why?
Rachel did get the angst of my not being sure I can financially cover things, I’m working a lot more now than I have most of the last few years. This last month or so especially. This means I still report my income and attract JobActive Mutual Obligations - I don’t have time for.
Miss a mutual obligations appointment, and they cut you off Centrelink payments. They make ot very difficult to get back on, this means you don’t even get the few extra pittance on slower work fortnights of $30 approx. you get further behind. If work dries up, you’re worse off.
If you’re working a lot you don’t have time to fix this. You might let it lapse as it asks too much if you and your time and you’re t from working. If the work stops now you’re in deep strife financially and it all needs to be done urgently, and they don’t do urgent easily.
This is a selfie taken the same day as the interview. I do like books.
*and you’re too exhausted from working.
When it comes to tax. As an employee you report your income to Centrelink as a #gross amount, the fifty and sixty cents of the dollar taken out past $150
to $256/ fn is from the Gross amount, not the Net. These are gross figures. You get less again. You pay #tax already on that.
Once you earn $540/week you get no #JobSeeker payment. This amount is less than the $550/week Covid stimulus payment that set the rate at the Henderson Poverty line amount. The earnings are take from a gross amount. JobSeeker isn’t taxed, it’s net. It’s Poverty creation. #auspol
#RaiseTheRate #auspol Poverty entrenchment should never happen at the hands of civil society. Especially not a society so rich as Australia. This is deliberate, and cruel. #IncreaseEarningsCapacity #RaiseRentAssistance #ConcessionTransport @AlboMP @ScottMorrisonMP @AdamBandt
It’s called #TheBusiness it now seems very telling that it’s not called #OurBusiness #auspol @abcnews
.@RachelPupazzoni gave the poor a voice at least. But did she give us a chance? Not really. #JournalismIsNotACrime #auspol

UPDATE: I was confirmed by text message received yesterday (15/1) from a PCR test taken on 11/1 to have #COVID19 I am now self-isolating at home until the 18/1 as per the seven day mandate to do so. However, I took a RAT test on 13/1 it was negative and worked yesterday. #auspol
I received the official PCR result after finishing work yesterday at 4pm. I felt positively awful for relying on the #RAT test the has said I am negative now twice. I took another RAT test immediately after getting home yesterday. How can we rely on RATs if they contradict PCRs?
I rang the #COVID19 hotline and spoke to a women who suggested two possibilities: 1) The virus has now cleared my system and I am no longer infectious (though still must isolate for seven days from #PCR test), and 2) the #RAT test may be from a faulty batch. #auspol

I called Centrelink yesterday to claim the disaster payment for lost work due to the 8 day lockdown in Qld. Apparently my account is locked. My AAT appeal is on 27.08 Friday week. I am busy preparing my brief of evidence for this. This is nasty. @Centrelink #auspol
Apparently, even as someone no longer in receipt of JobSeeker, they are now refusing me disaster cover for loss of work. If this doesn’t send me the signal they’d like to see me homeless and starving and die I don’t know what does. What “right to #SocialSecurity? #auspol
I am preparing now to visit my local @Centrelink office and apply for three things. 1. Reinstatement of JobSeeker, 2. Low Income Health Care Card, 3. Disaster Payment for loss of work in lockdown as someone not on JobSeeker - even as Indefinitely should still be. #auspol #LNPfail

This week sees my life and peace of mind, housing security and finances all messed with by the Department of Housing, Qld and the Department of Education, Skills and Employment - JSP’s oversight body. Social Housing screw up! & threats of loss of JobSeeker from anon body. #auspol
I am so over this draconian system. Where is the recourse? I have an active on-foot complaint about Job Search Providers, unresolved - and some anonymous JSP sms’s me today, Saturday morning, saying I’m jeapardising my JobSeeker payment - they don’t say how. #auspol #RaiseTheRate
This directly affects my ability to pay my rent and survive.

.@Senator_Patrick your voicemail at Parliament House now states your are being inundated with calls against the cashless debit card - and only invites messages from people on other issues. I left you a message anyway.

Don’t support the card! #auspol #RaiseTheRate #PovertyKills
Fantastic!

If anyone else wants to call Senator @Senator_Patrick here is the number for Parliament House in Canberra. Just ask reception to be put through to his office. Ask him - his answering machine - NOT to support the card. #auspol #NoCDC
If Senator Patrick supports this he supports ineffective legislation that delivers only cruelty and sanctions - to people in #poverty.

These are not criminals, they are people deemed eligible for Social Security. #PovertyKills #ServicesnotSanctions #RaiseTheRate #auspol

In just two weeks I have experienced contacts with the Department of Housing, Job Service Providers, the hotline for same with Dept of Education, Skills & Wmployment and Centrelink. All have taken hours of my time in calls & appointments with them that bring zero hope. #auspol
For each one of these contacts, I am required to give my Centrelink Reference Number - I feel I no longer have a name, I am simply to be referred to as 123456789A nine numbers and one letter. After which all manner of other identifying details become relevant and required.
I am working in a underemployed capacity, and literally am only eligible for a whopping just under twenty dollars of the set rate of JobSeeker (sans Covid19 supplement) and has been on this payment for years - what help is provided? What assistance? Why is now different?

As interim Sec of AUWU Brisbane Branch, I notified a meeting to elect executive tomorrow 5pm, Mon 25/5.

This was done with full cooperation of AUWU management.
I have since been locked out of my AUWU email address.

Please resolve this
@AlexPNorth
so I can chair this meeting.
Since calling this meeting unknown people in AUWU management have removed my access to the AUWU email address I was given. This is the address I called this meeting from. They have changed my password and locked me out. This means whoever runs this meeting is posing as me.
