1/ Latest developments in #Shingal: Yesterday, the #Iraq|i army once again strengthened its presence in the #Sinjar region with numerous additional forces as well as heavy military equipment. Tensions between the Iraqi army & #YBŞ remain high. The YBŞ has withdrawn from several
2/ regions to avoid risking further fighting, the unit has stated. The Iraqi army is increasingly taking up positions along the #Syria|n-Iraqi border & had announced plans to build a wall 50km long/3m high along the entire border. Parts of the border wall have already been built.
3/ Trade has come to an almost complete standstill. The YBŞ also considers the construction of the wall an attempt to completely cut off its supply routes to #Rojava.
4/ In addition, the Iraqi PM had announced the governor of Mosul, Najm Al Jabouri, as the new active mayor of #Shingal. However, the PM withdrew his decision a few hours later after sharp criticism.

1/ In the context of the clashes between the #Iraq|i army and the #Ezidi YBŞ, voices are being raised that the #YBŞ should lay down its arms for the good of the civilian population and hand over all bases to the Iraqi army. At first glance,
2/ this may sound reasonable, and in the short term it could lead to an easing of the overall situation in #Shingal. The Iraqi government has so far failed to address Ezidi security concerns,
3/ such as integrating Ezidi men and women in the ranks of the Ezidi fighting units into official security structures (Police, Federal Border Guard, Army, etc). In the long term, however,

1. The proposed agreement in #Syria marks the final end of the #Ezidi minority. After #Afrin was occupied by #Turkey & its Islamists mercenaries, the same will now occupy the remaining villages in Syria. The #Yezidis remaining in Syria will be forced to flee.
2. Ironically, so far about 40 #Ezidi families from #Syria have been ethnically cleansed by #Turkey/#Islamists & fled to #Shingal in #Iraq; a region where the local #Yezidi population continues to suffer the genocide crimes committed by ISIS.
3. The #Ezidis have thus been expelled from almost their entire homeland in recent centuries (#Iran, #Turkey, #Syria). Only in #Iraq does a significant community still exist, but it has been emigrating increasingly for years.

[1] That is what the Leader of the Free World has done with his ill-considered decision: hospital bombing #Assad & hospital bombing #Putin are supposed to protect #Kurdish hospitals in #Syria from hospital bombing #Erdogan.
[2] Minorities have been suffering under the Assad regime for decades. The US President has now driven them into the arms of their executioners to escape ethnic cleansing. The #Ezidis should therefore consider giving up their homeland in #Syria altogether, as they did in #Turkey
[3] With only some 800,000 members worldwide, the #Ezidis have no choice but to leave their homeland in order to survive and escape the endless wars, in which they have no chance of survival.

[1] "I saw many dead, massacred people": Kinan, 10, has spent half his life as a slave of Daesh (ISIS)". He was kidnapped from his village in #Shingal in 2014. Now he tells his story. Translation in the thread.

[2] "His name is Kinan, he is 10 years old. He was released a week ago after five years serving a Syrian jihadist named Abu Saad. In the cohorts of civilians evacuated from #Baghouz region in #Syria, where the "caliphate" of ISIS lives its last days, there are many children.
[3] Children of jihadists, but also slaves of the Islamic State, like Kinan, who agreed to tell his story to our special envoys. The story of Kinan begins in 2014 when he is taken prisoner by Daesh. The jihadists have just taken, in just a few hours, the Yezidi city of #Sinjar

[1] When we talk about female ISIS members, some euphemistically called "brides", and about our Western values of why we should take them back, remember this 12-year-old #Ezidi girl abducted by ISIS, separated from her family, taken to Raqqa in #Syria and being raped there.
[2] Hweida is just one of thousands of children that these so-called "jihadi brides" have helped to get raped every day for years. Think of the more than 3k #Ezidi children who are now orphans and thousands other #Iraqi & #Syrian children, ISIS killed their parents.
[3] Think about how ISIS beheaded Christians, Syrians, Iraqis & burned Jordanians, killed French, Germans and others in their own cities. Almost all civilized states have recognized the crimes of ISIS against the Ezidis as genocide.
