How much #China and #Russia cooperate in spreading #propaganda and #disinformation in Europe? With my colleagues @VBlablova and @Pavel_Havlicek_ we looked at the issue and mapped 30 months of China-related messages found in pro-Kremlin #media in the Czech Republic. Threat 🧵
Specifically, we focused on 5 key topics: #5G, Chinese #investment, protests in #HongKong, #Xinjiang and #Taiwan.

2⃣ On some issues, such as Hong Kong, 20% of all agenda setters were of the Chinese origin. On 5G issue, 24% of all cited sources were Chinese, while additional 14% were Russian. These agenda-setters set the tone of the texts published in Czech.
3⃣Manipulative techniques are subtle, difficult to uncover without local expertise & language analysis. Pro-Kremlin media carrying Chinese messages smuggle in quotes out of context, muddle facts, give prominence to Chinese and Russian voices, and omit crucial information.
