A project where Chinese offered to spend $100million to build an ornate garden in Washington DC that thrilled d locals actually US smelled stink not any fragrance as found out by FBI. A deeper digging revealed the actual agenda behind the huge spend offered by Chinese Government.
#Chinese are adept in intelligence collection and were eagerly awaiting execution of their “project”, but before their dreams would fructify, Washington quietly killed the project before construction was started. US Officials reported a dramatic escalation in Chinese espionage.
Like in any other country, Chinese for long had shown keen interest in digging their heels on US soil & China has already infiltrated deeply in academia, institutions, research labs, universities, think tanks, & not leaving the US administration through a cool & silent intrusion.
Recall a couple of years back, US shutting down a high profile regional consulate of Chinese Government, which was discovered to be a hotbed of Chinese spies tasked to plant listening devices near sensitive military installations, defence projects and Government facilities.
FBI counter-intelligence agents uncovered alarming plots by Chinese company #Huawei placing equipment atop cell-towers near US military bases in rural Midwest, capable of capturing & disrupting highly restricted communications from US Strategic Command & from Defence Department.
While US Government has been maintaining a stoic silence, but worried they have been deeply over surreptitious and deceitful intrusion by Chinese into their territory existing since the days of Obama administration. Many US security officials confide in private and not in public.
US Intelligence community is not sure if actually any data stolen through interception and sent to Beijing from the cell-towers. At the same time Chinese expectedly have been denying any infringement by the use of their equipment while multiple sources vouch for its capability.
FBI Officials are worried about the impact of Chinese intelligence on “our ability for essentially command and control with the nuclear triad”and are concerned about possible disruptions. Many in Govt have not been briefed about the findings of the investigation by FBI agents.
FCC even initiated a rule banning use of #Huawei equipments by small companies, but sadly two years down the line, none of the equipment has been removed. Disbursal to rural companies as reimbursement for removal of the equipment is still a long way to go till funds are received.
Probe under Biden Admn has moved on a slow pace. National Security Officials fear that any software update in #Huawei equipments can be exploited by Chinese. Depending on what Commerce Department finds, US telecom carriers may be forced to remove Huawei equipment or face penalty.
US National Counterintelligence & Security Centre have lately been publicising threats from China & issued warning to US businesses & local governments about disguised efforts by China to manipulate them to influence US policy while FBI opens a new investigation every 12 Hours.
The investigations so far have revealed that #Huawei began to proliferate near US Military bases by selling cheap equipment to rural providers which placed its equipment near military assets. The Chinese deals made no sense from a return on investment perspective bared the plots.
US strategic experts understand that China has proved through its policies & actions that it is not a neutral actor as bared by disturbing patterns monitored with use of Chinese Routers along stretches of Interstate 25 in Colorado, Montana & on arteries of Nebraska by FBI Agents.
And US Administration tight lipped neither confirming nor denying the ongoing investigations, reiterating commitment in securing information & communications technology & services chain, besides protecting US persons, their economy & national security - Words of self assurance 🙉
