In the last week, not only 27 Opposition MPs have been suspended (4 in #LokSabha, 23 in #RajyaSabha), but as many as 97 Questions asked by these MPs have been DELETED & Govt has avoided answering these Qs!
There is NO provision in RULES to permit such deletion of Qs!

This dubious practice, which isn't permitted by Rules & has no logic, was first noticed in #MonsoonSession 2020, repeated in Monsoon Session 2021, Winter Session 2021 and now happening again in current #MonsoonSession2022.

In the current #MonsoonSession, following is the tally of Qs 'DELETED'. Also, see pics of some Deleted Qs.

Why is this problematic?
- Questions asked by MPs can only be declined if not admissible. Rules provide for grounds of inadmissibility. Suspension of MPs not one of them.
- A Q which has made it to Q list was found admissible. Can't be DELETED now.

Why is this problematic?
- An MP asks Qs on behalf of people, the responses to those Qs are public documents.
- When Rules already provide that Qs can be answered even in absence of MPs, then what is the logic to 'DELETE' Qs?
- Its nothing but a juvenile form of punishment!

- sharp decline in Maulana Azad National Fellowship (for minority students)

It directly & negatively impacts people's right to #information which can't be 'DELETED'
A Q once admitted must be answered whether or not the MP is in House
As #citizens, we must ask our MPs to object to this practice & demand it be stopped.
