1. News that #Austria could be considering F-35s as a replacement fo its Eurofighters is both interesting/concerning in the wider security context of the country, one the Financial Times called a "veritable aircraft carrier" of covert #Russian activity ft.com/content/bd74a5…
2. For some time now many Western nations did not share information with Austria because of how many leaks/double agents were reported to be inside its intelligence agencies.
3. Article states that a Vienna-based European diplomat even said "its BVT agency is regarded as being so compromised that for a time it was cut out of much #European intelligence sharing activity."
4. If US was to make Austria one of the FMS customers of the F-35 program, this could arguably pose a critical security risk to information sharing and intelligence collection between partners of the program exposing it to risks of leakages to the Russia

🧵#Israel's 'Uvision' announced it is fast-tracking the opening of its first US production site in Virginia to meet growing demand for its HERO loitering munitions. Its latest contract with a Latin American country, likely #Brazil, to whom it presented its systems in 2019.
2. In October 2021, #Italy announced it was equipping its SF with the company's HERO-30 munitions. Rheinmetall's Italian branch RMW Italia signed contract with Uvision, acting as prime contractor for European market, producing some ammo components and assembling the systems.
3. RWM Italia has 2 facilities: the main one in Brescia, is said to be carrying out the (partial) assembly of the HERO systems, while the one in Sardinia would be in charge of loading the header of these.
1. A quick thread on the informal but important role #Romania played in "delivering" #Pakistan's artillery to Ukraine which we didn't end up including in this report but is worth pointing out thedrive.com/the-war-zone/p…
2. It is understood that Romania was likely not part of the formal negotiations around the sale of this ammunition, rather offering to temporarily use its facilities to transport it.
3. When asked about the #UK air bridge, the Romanian MoD told me “in what regards coordinating our support to UKR with other partners (NATO/EU or non-NATO partners) we have been doing so through the humanitarian hub which was launched in Suceava North-East of #Romania"
1. My latest: In an alleged trilateral agreement btw the US and #Pakistan for the sale of ammo to the #UK over the summer, in exchange for the release of a $1.2 billion loan from the IMF pending from earlier this year, Pakistani shells are now in #Ukraine thedrive.com/the-war-zone/p…
2. Over the last nine months, it has become a pattern for Kyiv to acquire weapons via third-party transfers. However, a more recent and on the rise inclination is for Ukraine to obtain ammunition from third ‘unplanned’ parties.
3. The first evidence of Iran-made ammunition only emerged in early September 2022. As documented by the open-source analyst website Oryx, the artillery shells were 122mm OF-462 types for the D-30 howitzer listed as having been produced in 2022.
1. Unconfirmed but developing thread: since Aug 6, the #UK's RAF C-17 ZZ173 has been doing nearly daily flights to #Pakistan's Air Force base Nur Khan in Rawalpindi departing from #Romania or Cyprus. This past week alone it completed 6 trips according to @TheBrit96.
2. Yesterday an informative thread made by @INTELPSF was deleted shortly after it started getting attention, where it was alleged that the #UK has now established a running air bridge between Romania-Pakistan for a mission clearly linked to the Ukraine conflict.
3. Important to note that according to @Sipri the largest Pakistan-#Ukrainian military deal was done more than 20 years ago in 1996 for 320 T-80UD/Ob’yekt 478BEh tanks, built by the Kharkov Machine Building Design Bureau. Tanks were delivered btw 1997-1999 and remain in Pakistan
