On February 1st, thousands of workers are taking strike action against the Tories’ Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Bill, & against the destruction of education & health as well as for a wage that protects from the #CostOfLivingCrisis.

In #Leicester, the March and rally appears to be taking the same form that it took in 2011. A march through the town centre, & a rally at the Athena Events Venue. I was at that march & rally, and filmed it.

I had never seen such a powerful turnout of workers, and this was happening in towns and cities across the country. But the trade unions were quick to settle in separate agreements, and left teachers & civil servants isolated.

N30 2011 was nothing more than a token gesture for union members to blow off steam, and was a betrayal by the unions.

The unions are once again set to repeat this formula.

The #NEU promotes the Leicester march & rally by imploring members to:-

“Bring banners, placards, whistles, school bands, etc. Families and children welcome!

Let's make this big, colourful and noisy and send a clear message!”

Whistles and drums? Blow off steam. Where is the platform for debate to discuss future action amongst members? To discuss how to organise to win by making a turn to other workers & organise a #GeneralStrike?

Why isn’t the rally being held outside, where it is safer for all to see and join in?

Today’s strikes and rallies are not designed for workers to get the upper hand, they are designed to trap workers behind a fawning union bureaucracy that serves as industrial policemen for the capitalist oligarchy.

These are very serious struggles today, and workers must not be defeated! They must break with the trade union bureaucrats & build independent workers #RankAndFileCommittees to organise a #GeneralStrike to drive the Tories out of office.

I believe that the Queen was taken to Scotland to die to try & head off another attempt at Scottish independence.
They will have her lying in state in Edinburgh after parading her through Scotland.
Nothing quite like stirring up patriotic feelings for serving a political agenda.
I am not a nationalist, I don’t support “Scottish independence”. I support the international working class in its fight for world socialism.
I believe that the Queen has been seriously ill for some months, indeed, in his early commentary Nicholas Witchell said:-
“I think we can be candid, there have been rumours of cancers but no, of course, confirmation…”

With the death of #QueenElizabeth, not only has a monarch died, but also the last shreds of credibility of British Trade Unionism as union leaders call off widespread popular strike action to doff their caps to the ruling class to bare their nationalist souls and shed tears.
Workers respond to the announcements aghast that their struggles and sacrifices come so cheaply and easily in the midst of the worst #CostOfLivingCrisis as union bureaucrats reveal their true allegiance.
A monarch has died, but the #ClassStruggle is alive and kicking!

NOW is the time for workers to break with the stifling & cowardly trade union bureaucracy and build their own #RankAndFileCommittees!

Join with the workers of the world in the IWA-RFC!

Having watched & enjoyed @PaulMcCartney’s set at #Glastonbury on TV last night, after his set I was appalled to see him come back onstage waving an outsized Ukrainian flag, accompanied by that “Butcher’s apron”, the UnionJack. If this isn’t the opposite of all that Glastonbury 1/
stands for, I don’t know what is! #Glastonbury was established in the spirit of hippiedom and the 1960’s counter culture, anti war and anti establishment. The Beatles were once actually a part of this counter culture supporting peace and love! 2/
#Ukraine’s #Zelensky on the other hand, does not seek peace, but continues to demand more and heavier weaponry in the US/NATO proxy war against #Russia. He is the West’s puppet in ensuring the escalation of hostilities to the point of embedding actual Nazis in Ukraine’s army 3/

The volume and intensity of war propaganda emanating out of the mainstream media in support of Ukraine, is comparable to to the unrelenting artillery barrages on the trenches prior to a major offensive. 1/
The effect is to stun the enemy (if it doesn’t kill them first) into a stupor. So many individuals who took a principled stance against #Covid & the governments lies & evasions - repeated & reinforced in the msm 2/
- seem to have lost either the ability or the need to apply the same level of scrutiny & critical thought to the Ukraine crisis. And yet what is required here is a conscious evaluation of the “information” being spewed out, and the manner in which it is spewed. 3/

Solidarity with the second #SchoolStrike2021 #October15th! The Tories do nothing but wilful harm and cannot be appealed to. Meanwhile, Labour “leader” Keri Starmer keeps his party on a leash and lets the Tories off the hook. 1/

Then the “traditional” organisations defending workers, the trade unions are also very muted in their response, when they should be at the forefront of defending their members interests- their lives in fact! 2/
No sign of teachers unions supporting this independent strike action. No sound of genuine protestations to make schools and workplaces safe. #SafeEdForAll and other grass root orgs show the way. Build rank & file safety committees and this strike action internationally.
