1/10.📜NEW BREIF: From @CJRFund, highlights findings from their efforts to address #LossAndDamage and provides recommendations to inform the operationalisation of a fit-for-purpose #LossAndDamage Fund based on real-world efforts.

2/10. Aimed at informing the work of the Transitional Committee (TC) of the #LossAndDamage Fund ahead of their first workshop (29-30th April) and second meeting #TC2 (24-27 May) the brief is also supported by @ACTAlliance, @UUSC, @Helvetas and Young Power in Social Action.

3/10. The @CJRFund has supported four #LossAndDamage projects – in Bangladesh 🇧🇩, Malawi 🇲🇼, and across the Pacific 🇫🇯🇰🇮 – though funding pledged by @NicolaSturgeon on behalf of the @scotgov at #COP26 in Glasgow.

4/10. These projects are still underway but are already yielding practical insights into how to address #LossAndDamage which can inform the operationalisation of the #LossAndDamage Fund and Funding Arrangements at #COP28.

5/10. Some key messages from the brief include:

1⃣ The new #LossAndDamage Fund must get ready to support a very diverse set of activities and make it possible to adjust activities over time in response to changing circumstances.

6/10.2⃣ The new #LossAndDamage Fund should support community leadership in development and implementation of #LossAndDamage solutions to ensure that the funding impacts are sustainable, meaningful, address real needs, and support people’s right to self-determination.

7/10. 3⃣ Communities and individuals continue to experience #LossAndDamage, even after it has “been addressed.” The #LossAndDamage Fund should work in ways that allow #LossAndDamage priorities and interventions to evolve over time as needed.

8/10. 4⃣In order to support the self-determination of communities experiencing #LossAndDamage, the Fund should set up systems to determine the additionality of finance at its source, not at the point of use.

9/10. 5⃣ The #LossAndDamage Fund established at #COP27 has an opportunity to learn from cutting-edge community-led examples of how to address #LossAndDamage.
