growth, in 4 years via @RidePeloton:

$80m of bikes sold (at cost)
$470k MRR (streaming revs)
12k daily rides

startups.co/articles/strea…
a 🚴🏻 platform on 🔥

2015: $50m in revs
2016: $170m in revs, 0.3% rider churn

.@GoZwift releasing market data today, positioning themselves as “fitness entertainment co.” (note not just cycling)
whereby @gozwift starts to hint at additional monetization schemes in their new TOS: virtual goods and in-game advertising
.@RidePeloton's John Foley (CEO) on Q1 '17 performance: "we've tripled YoY again"

...and that subscriber holiday seasonal step up curve 👀
.@GoZwift: starting to tease out more product + biz roadmap additions: courses, digital content, raising prices (?), hardware and financing
.@gozwift’s branding and marketing is starting to look/feel a lot like @onepeloton w. their latest commercial
the integration on @Strava's main feed w. @GoZwift is beginning to look like early signs of a meaningful app install ad biz (👋🏻 @jamesnord)
.@GoZwift raises monthly prices by $5 (from $10/mo to $15/mo) and faces some user criticism. that said, what’s the alternative?
the pre “Thanksgiving burn as many calories as possible” feeling is real for @onepeloton. live data from their lead iOS engineer 👇🏻
.@gozwift likely had one of their biggest days yet for a “gran fondo” - 30mi to 100mi race; concurrent riders peaking north of 5k on the same course. first group just finished but still north of 4.3k going!
Zwift is either (1) growing crazy organically now given WoW growth rates in iOS downloads or (2) spending $$$ on ads to drive installs. Given the delta in growth rates, I think Zwift may eclipse Peloton paid subs in Q1 2018.

Peloton: 250k paid subs
Zwift: 120k paid subs
1k RSVP’s for a Live video unveiling of @onepeloton’s new treadmill announcement tomorrow at #CES2018. note the teaser image rail and running belt.
1. Barry’s Bootcamp
2. Orange Theory
3. Equinox
4. Gyms

these are the potential biz models impacted by @onepeloton Tread, both in terms of instructors who leave and share of wallet shift
the biz model for @GoZwift is truly evolving. when you have a certain scale (virtual cyclists) and deep engagement (RSVPs to group rides), you can begin to integrate native advertising.

ex.: @CastelliCycling sponsoring their own series w. 2k+ RSVPs, chance to win “virtual” kit
this is such a neat, inclusive use case of @GoZwift: a group virtual ride where live commentary gets recorded and distributed as an “official" podcast for off-the-bike, on-demand content
.@gozwift = clearly getting some pressure to continue growth (recently teased a new course expansion of Alpe d’Huez) but SLA’s continue to falter under heavy concurrent sessions (i.e. dropped connectivity, no rider names)
the response to this tweet highlights how rabid of a fan base @GoZwift has, announcing the very much hyped recreation of Alpe d’Huez in Zwift’s main virtual course of “Watopia” from @LeTour
.@GoZwift quietly released one of the most anticipated course extensions late last night: Alpe Du Zwift, a close recreation of the famed Alpe d’Huez

here’s a view descending from this AM (completed 15/22 switchbacks and ~2.2k ft. of elevation)

emoji to sum up experience: 😍
for riders who have been using @GoZwift since the start (i.e. ~4 years ago), there’s always been interest in expanding courses for more diversity.

looking at new source code, the game designers are really stepping it up: recreating a “new” Central Park in NYC (h/t @mjbreuer)
another example of @GoZwift tying together new course and “world” releases connected to marquee IRL events. newest experience dropped today for the @UCI_cycling championships in Innsbruck, 🇦🇹
one of the weirdest cycling moments I've experienced: riding around Central Park (virtually) from my apartment in Manhattan this Morning on @GoZwift. it was truly a first to go in reverse the entire loop - normally runners would yell at you IRL!
@GoZwift some interesting nuggets re. @GoZwift's roadmap in this $120mm Series B funding story:

1. 1mm paid subscribers (assuming all are at the new $15/mo range v. legacy $10/mo, that's $180mm of ARR)
2. rowing is next sport (following running)
3. esports leagues techcrunch.com/2018/12/19/zwi…
@GoZwift some other initiatives Zwift has been trying re. growth + monetization (not reported):

1. building a very active YouTube channel and podcast for scripted training videos as well as stories
2. e-commerce store for selling $1.2k indoor cycling trainers
3. cloning Strava 👇🏻
@GoZwift additional commentary and clarification via @stevemz:

1. these are 1mm "registered" accounts v. "paid". Zwift has a 7 day free trial, so paid accounts are smaller.
2. as of Dec. 2017, I inferred paid accounts at 120k. likely higher now since "active riders" in game over 2x YoY.
