Finished reading "Thinking, Fast and Slow". It's the Maxwell equations of human behavior. This book should be a prereq for everything
Continuing down the #behavioraleconomics rabbit hole,@danariely "Predictably Irrational" makes so much sense and terrifying at the same time
@danariely @danariely's "The Honest Truth About Dishonesty" is a great book that proves Dr. House's claim - everybody lies #behavioraleconomics
"Sway" is a great book, showing how irrationalities don't add up linearly, but rather amplify each other, and when pass a critical mass, explode
Had fun reading @danariely's "The Upside of Irrationality" and see how it exemplify the work of kahneman and Tversky #BehavioralEconomics
"Blink"by @Gladwell is an undistilled description of system 1. I should have read it before "Thinking, Fast and Slow" #behavioralEconomics
"The Why Axis" by @UriGneezy is a tour de force of applying the scientific method on people to get impressive #BehavioralEconomics insights
Misbehaving by @R_Thaler shows that economics is much more chaotic than economists think it is, as it involves humans #behavioralEconomics
"Nudge" by @R_Thaler and @CassSunstein is a brilliant engineering book. It should be the second book all engineers read #BehavioralEconomics
Prediction by analogy / HTM in @JeffCHawkins's “On Intelligence” echoes Kahneman’s two systems and explains 1's mistakes cc @Numenta
"Phishing for Phools" by G.Akerlof and R.Shiller shows how #nudgeforbad works, and its harsh (or even devastating) impact on the world #behavioralEconomics
"Influence" by @RobertCialdini describes the weaknesses and vulnerabilities of system 1, how they are being exploited and suggests ideas on how to defend against such exploits. anybody who wants to understand the world around them needs to read it #BehavioralEconomics
Read "The Black Swan" by @nntaleb. It is a brilliant description of how people's cognitive mistakes, biases, and misconceptions get accumulated to impact complex systems, from organizations to all of the human society
"Gödel, Escher, Bach: an Eternal Golden Braid". Wow. Just Wow. Logic, math, molecular biology, arts, neuroscience, computer science, AI. All combined together to hypothesize what intelligence is and how it works. Even @numenta's HTM and SDR are echoed there. #spectacular
"Why Nations Fail" is the dual of "The innovator's Dilemma", projected on nations and not organizations. It is a clear, readable and extremely interesting description of why the world is the way it is.
Alan Kay said that a perspective is worth 80 IQ points. This is exactly what @nntaleb does in "Antifragile", where he introduces a new axis of looking at, thinking about and understanding the way everything in the world works. If you read it and didn't get smart, read it again!
The key observation and insight in "Superforecasting" (by Dan Gardner and Philip E. Tetlock) is that the world is propobalistic. Acepting the rule of uncertainty is the only way to be able to properly navigate the world's complexity.
The core idea in "The Signal and the Noise" by @NateSilver538 is that more data means much more noise and metanoise than signal (as there are not many truths lying around). Thus distilling insights and predictions relies on domain knowledge, and not just advanced computations.
"Psychology of Intelligence Analysis" by Richard Heuer is an interesting tour guide of an analysis practitionair on the process of extracting information from data, and an insightful description of how the professionals tame uncertainty
