I spoke w/a Montgomery County official at a party. Said they were getting lots of pressure “from above” to find major crime links to MS-13.
Suffice it to say they weren’t amused to waste time on finding local links to major crimes that weren’t there. Sessions will stop at nothing

Getting lots of questions, so I'm posting a thread with an outline of key points to focus on in stories re: privacy implications and questions of Facebook's Graph API. The Graph API is the underlying issue in Cambridge Analytica & FB data-sharing & voter micro-targeting debacle.
/1 The problematic collection of Facebook users' personal info and extensive info about their friends is due to Facebook's Graph API v1.0. It was a developer (ie, app-level) feature. Version 1.0 launched on April 21, 2010, was deprecated in April 2014, & closed on April 30, 2015.
2/ Facebook saw problems with the amount of PII available in first implementation of Graph API. But they didn't want to cut off marketing channel & biz partners from huge revenue stream. On April 30, 2014, they announced at f8 v1.0 would be wound down. newsroom.fb.com/news/2014/04/f…
