One thing I’m still learning as a writer is that it’s okay for something you may have spent a lot of time on to not be shared with the world
Sometimes you spend days, weeks, or months on a piece of writing that you just can’t get right, & I’m learning to accept that this is okay.
I spent the past few months writing about 10,000 wrds of something I thought was really good, looked at it & realized...it’s not good at all
Most of the time heavy revision can turn a bad piece into something you’re proud of. But there’s also times when you should let the piece go
And I think those pieces of writing, while they may never be seen by anyone else, ultimately create the space for your other work to exist.
And after you accept it you can treat yourself to a bag of double stuf oreos & rewatch your favorite episodes of Planet Earth to feel better
