My husband and I were in a car discussing GST and Modi along with Gujarat election - our driver suddenly says - Are Modi jee ko toh bas karna hai 'Mere Pyaare Bhaiyon aur behenon'. Madame humara mehendi ka business tha - band kar diya. Ab gaadi chala rahe hain.
My husband's cousin starts chatting up GST and how our company is handling filing. I gave him a lowdown on how we have hired a firm to manage.

He goes on to list ELEVEN (I counted) companies that he was working with who have wrapped up overnight. People just gave up. They went to tax officials who were as clueless as them. They went to fellow businessmen who couldn't help either.

He himself held ground for a month on his own. He filed papers after paper as GST until he finally took help of a fifteen year old (his nephew) who helped him get things online. Then he went on to hire a new accountant - since old one shut shop.
Why you may ask did his last accountant shut shop? Because it is too much of a hassle for him - he is old, he retired - doesn't want to understand GST.
So now he hires a new accountant who charges 8000 INR/month. Last one charged 1500 INR/month.

From buying a new printer to raising accounting expenses by 6500 INR/month to also giving money to his nephew for help with computer - GST has so far impacted his revenues and not aided in any way.
Not to forget he now has to look for ELEVEN new traders/agencies to work with.

Why do companies shut down in light of GST? 1. #Demo has sucked all liquidity out of the system. 2. Now with GST people first need to install resources in place for basic functioning. Already business is down - most small companies are bleeding money (without GST) - hence SHUT.
And while Mr. Jaitley and party can celebrate Anti-Black Money Day - the entire country knows ZERO black money was retrieved in 8th Nov nonsense. So by celebrating this day - they are mocking 150 deaths that occurred plus ongoing crisis for small businesses.
Hence, apologies aside - Modi government is actually celebrating loss of 150 lives and in exchange they got UP elections win. Audacity of this party is an attempt to score a political point is beyond belief.
