deeds & toscano answering my question on loosening the dillon rule: we’ve got special state measures to do the things you want, so it’s basically the same!
but passing locality-specific legislation at the state level is decidedly NOT the same as loosening the dillon rule so the city can take care of its own business, no
and don’t think i didn’t notice you speaking exclusively to the portion of my question about open carry while refusing to address living wage
calling the dillon rule a generally positive thing because it makes it easier for out of state businesses to bring jobs here is the OPPOSITE of addressing my question about letting charlottesville raise the minimum wage.
i don’t give a shit if employers in “bangor, ME or bangladesh!” find our state business regulations easy to read if the jobs they are bringing don’t pay a living wage.
i want to not be disappointed in deeds, but even in a friendly crowd, he and toscano won’t answer the harder parts of questions they should’ve expected.
when asked about same day registration, no excuses absentee, opt-OUT registration, and restoration of rights for felons... they were enthusiastic about the easy stuff, hesitant about same-day reg, and refused to speak on restoration.
