Trump’s Moscow Developer Owned by Bank of Cyprus Lawyer With Documented Money Laundering Ties medium.com/@ScottMStedman…
- The Chairman of the development company, IC Expert, that was set to build Trump Tower Moscow was misleading when he stated on the Letter of Intent that he owned 100% of the company. He does not. Hope you’ll read and share this thread.
- Colinsen Trading Limited, a Cyprus based LLC that owns 60% of IC Expert is owned, through a series of shell companies called Ionics, by Christodoulos Vassiliades — a high-profile Cyprus lawyer with links to the governments of Cyprus and Russia, and to the Bank of Cyprus.
- Vassiliades is close to the President of Cyprus, having had worked with the President’s daughter as Directors at the President’s law firm.
- Vassiliades was also personally nominated by the Bank of Moscow to become a large shareholder in the Bank of Cyprus when Wilbur Ross was Vice Chairman. Vassiliades’ 8.37% share was valued at approximately $350 million in 2013.
- Records show that his share was reduced to 5.77% in 2014, and it is unclear what Vassiliades’ current share in the bank may be.
- Vassiliades’ law firm was recognized in 2015 for having, “helped [consolidate] excellent relations between the Republic of Cyprus and the Russian Federation.”
- Here’s where it gets interesting. One of Vassiliades’ closest associates/secretary, Pampina Votsi, has been connected to at least two high profile cases of money laundering.
- Barlow Investing Limited, owned by the Russian mob boss Semion Mogilevich’s wife, employed Votsi as one of its three Directors.
- Mogilevich/wife used this company to hide some of their potentially illegally obtained money.
- Russian oligarch/politician Suleiman Kerimov, who was arrested last month in France for tax fraud and money laundering, also employed Pampina Votsi as Director for one of his Cyprus companies.
- The Kremlin has been desperate to free Kerimov from custody in France. They sent a team of lawyers from Moscow to attempt to free Kerimov.
- Kerimov’s close associate is Rinat Akhmetshin - one of the infamous Trump Tower meeting attendees. Akhmetshin has been involved in at least 2 hacking cases - one in Moscow and one in New York. He was convicted of neither.
- Here is where it gets really wacky. Pampina Votsi, the mysterious associate of Vassiliades that helped Mogilevich and Kerimov, is the secretary for Colinsen Trading Limited - the company that owns 60% of the Trump Tower developer. And I have the documents to prove it.
- Here they are. Votsi acted as an official representative of Colinsen on legal documents.
- To put it more succinctly: The owner of the Trump Tower Moscow developer has disturbingly close ties to money laundering operations.
- This didn’t happen in a vacuum, however. The developer received a large loan from Sberbank in December 2015 for the purpose of construction of Novokosino-2, one of its only major developments.
- By this time, construction had nearly ground to a halt, which begs the question: Where did the money go?
- Additionally, one of the first addresses that Colinsen had listed was the exact same address, down to the P.O. Box number, as a company that the Russian oligarch Sergei Pugachev used to launder hundreds of millions.
- Questions I am left with: Why did Michael Cohen and Donald Trump think it was okay to do business with companies with so many ties to money laundering? Why did Andrey Rozov lie on the Letter of Intent? Where did the money from the homebuyers and investors of Novokosino-2 go?
- Did Vassiliades and Wilbur Ross know each other? If so, why did Ross say that he knows of “no interaction between the bank [and] anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign or organization.”
- @Erinlank co-wrote this piece with me and deserves a huge shout out. She is amazing talented. @__alt__thought helped tremendously with some tricky Russian translations.
