STOP WITNESS TAMPERING
2/ This is a THREAT of INVESTIGATION and PROSECUTION by a defendant against a WITNESS against him. Worse, a defendant with the power to carry out his threat (as the defendant and witness both know).

3/ I've represented men charged with Witness Tampering.
As here, such defendants often have been clearly instructed by their lawyers not to do what they did.
As here, they're often facing a serious felony allegation and acting out of fear they'll be found out.
Still a felony.

4/ Ostensibly, a president can't and wouldn't order DOJ to investigate someone. But this president has not only done it repeatedly and publicly but *successfully*. Look at the investigation into Uranium One that followed hard on Trump demanding such an investigation from the DOJ.
5/ But all that's the icing on the cake of a Witness Tampering charge here. The manifest intent here was to intimidate a witness into changing his testimony, refusing to testify, or being placed into a circumstance in which his value as a witness has been terminally compromised.
