To all asking why we would demonstrate against a discussion night: this discussion was about the GRA consultation, which will outline, analyse and hope to change parts of the law which are endangering, abusing and killing trans people.
The discussion was held by a group of people who believe these are good things and wish to see them continue. Their actions have already pushed back the consultation in England and Wales.
During that delay, how many more trans people will die on the streets because equalities protections are not enough to stop them from being denied housing based on their transness? How many trans people will starve to death in the time it takes them to get proper ID for jobs?
How many trans people will commit suicide after facing daily humilation, harassment and abuse from groups like these?
And on that point: how many trans people will end up in hospital or dead from the violence of transphobes? One of our members was assaulted yesterday purely for being in the same room as these people!
When the 'discussion' is about the best way to bring about the annihilation of you and most of your friends, of course you must oppose it.
