Scott Pruitt got kicked out of the place he was crashing at and was homeless in DC, but then he scheduled a bunch of work trips so that he'd have hotel rooms to sleep in at night.
Wait... Scott Pruitt's salary was $132K a year, his wife does not work, and he got a $850K mortgage in 2012 with a monthly payment of $5,500?

Yeah this dude has some for serious financial problems going on behind the scenes.
Three weeks after taking out a mortgage with a ~$5.5K monthly payment on a monthly take-home salary of ~$8K, Pruitt became the only state AG to opt out of the National Mortgage Settlement, claiming it would unfairly reward homeowners who had borrowed more than they could pay.

Interesting dynamic, when the defendant gets to choose between two government entities that are competing to be the one to adjudicate his case. With one party offering a typical plea and sentence, and the other offering a possibility of a full pardon.
Usually, a defendant has only two options. Either negotiate with the prosecutor for an acceptable plea deal, or roll the dice with a trial.

Here, there are two parties that defendants can negotiate with: Special Counsel's Office, or Trump.
The good news for the Mueller defendants is that this will likely result in discounted sentences for many of them. The SCO has no choice -- the laws of supply and demand require it.

Cohen really may get off with just a couple of years here.

At oral arguments today in Syed v. State, the State, once again, brought up its bogus Ja'uan claims. Since the State has already successfully convinced one judge to believe its made-up theory, its worth debunking again.
Judge Graeff, in her dissent from the Court of Special Appeals decision, accepted Thiru's story that Adnan's attorney had evidence from which she could have reasonably concluded that Adnan had asked Asia McClain to provide a false alibi for him.
First, Judge Graeff was wrong to believe Thiru's claim that this was based on "police records to which trial counsel had access."

They were not. The State's Ja'uan story is based on police notes never handed over to trial counsel. They were obtained a few years ago through MPIA.

Sisulu's defamation fund will be used by violent men to intimidate and further violate victims of their violence. I've seen it unfold so many times in SA's courts, its nauseating. Powerful men use the law to silence victims of their violence.
