this is a really good story with a terrible headline twitter.com/i/moments/9884…
part of my original point with @thinkpiecebot was to try to highlight how awful headlines are in particular, and part of the reason it's so popular with writers-- op-ed and reporters alike-- is that writers constantly get saddled with shitty headlines on their good pieces
it's not the only thing i'm making fun of with that bot, of course, but headlines do tend to be way more inflammatory than the piece
in this case i think they chose text that somewhat undermines the video, both in the title of that moment and in the text here
to rephrase it as a question-- "what is left of the neo-nazi movement in america?"-- the answer is police assaulting and arresting anti-nazi protesters
it's also, as the video talks about, the changes to ICE and other organizations
this thread is totally correct but based entirely on the headline
but that is totally a legitimate thread to make because a ton of people will only look at the headline!!! it is worth critiquing!!
people will absolutely spread it around going "oh look, the alt-right is reduced to a bunch of dipshits" which is like celebrating the removal of one tumor when the cancer is already in the blood
