anyway they aren't actually using a real argument, they're just parroting what lets them get away with shit that ranges from punching down jokes to organizing actual terrorism
this works on dipshits like the people in charge of twitter because they are either looking for excuses to do less, making money off these dudes, or marks

they're constantly trying to shut down speech they don't like--see Jordan Peterson's lawsuits, their obvious harnessing of the chilling effect their mob has, etc

they all have different levels of "civility" but they'll happily use people who are willing to say the quiet stuff loud if it's expedient, and they'll play the "protect speech" card to do it
anyway this is why their speech isn't actually worth protecting. it has no value except to recruit and terrorize. it says nothing new.
and people who are lining up to protect them are either just putting a "civil" face on something intentionally harmful because they like seeing the people it harms get hurt or they're absolutely incompetent rubes. either way their benefit of the doubt is long expired
