Well, @ChrisMasonBBC, you say conspiracy theory debunked, but I think the BBC still has some serious questions to answer about its Single Market coverage.
Like why have they selectively shown Nick Clegg saying Vote Leave wants to leave the Single Market as proof he knew we would be, when he explicitly says in the same debate that he doesn’t.
Or, why they have selectively presented a clip of George Osborne to suggest he was clear we would be leaving the Single Market, but not where he said in the same interview there was a situation where we’d be begging to get back inside it? #NotThatClear
But mainly, why are the BBC attacking Open Britain using an incomplete quote which just happens to be cut to in a way that hides important context to support the spurious argument made, and then falsely claiming it’s the full quote in context?
We’ve had selective clips, selective memory, even selective editing, all pushing for one outcome on the Single Market, and the only thing we haven’t had is an apology, a retraction, or even an explanation.
So, until those come, I’m afraid it very much looks like your house is not in order and I put it to you that you are wrong to accuse the license fee payers of conspiracies, when they have serious, and legitimate, concerns about this.
And if the BBC insists on vociferously defending those people destroying its integrity while attacking an audience speaking out to prevent this reputation degradation, and if they continue to take a publish and be damned attitude, then damnation will most surely come.
But if they want to avoid that, then it’s time they stopped attacking their critics and start asking if selectively presenting or editing quotes is really the behaviour of a reputable news organisation.
