Having been out of the scene for over 5 years now, I’m extraordinarily confused by what’s going on over in .NET land. Not only the “what”, but also “why”. blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/dotnet/2018/05…
As far as I can tell, “.NET Framework” is old and tired, and there are two new things called “.NET Core” and “.NET Standard”… and they’re just gradually porting over all the old capabilities and CLR libs into these, to achieve backward compat? Seems really pointless...
And we meanwhile had WinRT and UWP, which looked like they were going to be replacements for .NET Framework, but are now getting glommed into Core (and Standard??).
