A new teal color and lotus head ornament has just been added to my Koi Lantern Kickstarter! Thank you all for supporting this project and helping us surpass the stretch goals!
Bring home your Koi Kickstarter.com/projects/yuume…
There’s one last stretch goal left, and if we surpass that one, every backer will get a mini star kit like the ones seen in these photos :D
It’s been a long time since I’ve been so angered by the injustice happening in the art community. For those who don’t know, the photographer Zhang Jingna (@Zemotion) had her work stolen by Jeff Dieschburg, and the stolen work won a €1,500 prize.

You can see for yourself what an exact copy Jeff did of Jingna’s original work. Normally, when such blatant plagiarism comes to light, you would think the reward would be revoked and the thief should face the consequences. But that hasn’t happened for some reason.

Continuing my series about the recent wildfires that turned our sky red. I noticed in my past posts a lot of people thinking this is caused by stupid gender reveal parties. Gender reveal caused 1 fire, but the other 650 fires were caused by an unprecedented dry thunderstorm.
I've lived in CA for over 20 years and I've never seen thunderstorms in August during drought season. Unlike other parts of the world, the normal climate in CA doesn't get storms until winter. This storm is the remains of Tropical Storm Fausto which caused over 11,000 lightning

Lofi Cali Girl - beats to relax/study to during the climate change apocalypse
I saw the #LofiGirl meme floating around about all the different countries and thought about making one for California where I live, and well...
When life gets me down, I put it on canvas to help make sense of it all. These are some of my darker themed paintings from the past 10 years. Making my art book has been quite a journey, it made me look back at all of my creations, and the emotions that shaped me.
In other news, I’ll be adding more signed and stamped art books to my Kickstarter this Saturday at noon PST kickstarter.com/projects/yuume…
Thank you all who supported me over the decade and helped me become the artist I am today <3

Last year this time I would be going to the Cherry Blossom Fes in SF, but that has been canceled due to the pandemic. I've been missing all the street food and flowers, so I dug up old photos from Japan & painted over it. It helps during that bad times to remember the good times
Speaking of bad times, I recently noticed a painful lump at the base of my ring finger on my right palm. I spoke to a doctor on the phone and she said it's most likely a ganglion cyst caused by overworking.

Some amazing cosplayers got together to show support for Hong Kong after the Blizzard controversy. For those who didn’t know, Blizzard banned pro Hearthstone winner for supporting Hong Kong and took away his prize money.
So many American companies, Blizzard, NBA, Hollywood, and countless more and censoring free speech in fear of angering China and losing out on Chinese money. It’s ironic when Blizzard’s slogan is “Every Voice Matters” and their games features heros fighting for justice.

Today’s #Inktober prompt is “Demons” and what could be more fitting than the state of the Chinese government? They censor and ban everything from photos of Tank Man during the Tiananmen massacre, to silly memes of Winnie the Pooh.
And they have disappeared people for posting these memes. What kind of dystopian nightmare of a country has my birthland become?
There is no freedom in China and that’s exactly why the people of Hong Kong have been protesting so hard for their freedom.

6 days ago I made a Instagram post in support of freedom for Hong Kong. This is a 7 year old art that I've posted many times without issue. The only difference is this time I made the post in support of Hong Kong fighting for freedom against the oppressive Chinese government.
The next day, my post was removed for "hate speech". This isn't Instagram's fault. The Chinese government paid attackers to mass report me, thus triggering the algorithm to automatically remove my post. I appealed the removal and my art was restored.

I painted these 7 years and what's happening in Hong Kong reminded me of them. People of Hong Kong, keeping fighting for freedom, the rest of the world stands with you!
The last time I made a pro Hong Kong drawing, I got spammed by wumaos (Chinese government paid propaganda posters). They all say the same thing, that it's a misunderstanding, that the people of Hong Kong actually love China, that the protestors are just thugs who want chaos.

#inktober day 13 prompt is guarded. I'm reminded of my middle school and high school days when I was constantly bullied for being a nerd, a different race (Chinese in America), and for dressing poorly (didn't have trendy clothes).
It made me very guarded and I didn't trust most people even when they appeared friendly because I couldn't tell if they were faking it to make fun of me later or not.
What happened with my parents at home definitely didn't help either.

#inktober day 11 prompt is cruel. It's a very personal topic for me. A few years ago I reached an all time low depression and finally saw a therapist. A lot of things were going wrong in my life and I didn't understand why.
It seemed that I kept picking the worst kind of abusive people to be my best friends or relationship. My therapist helped me understand that my parents were very emotionally abusive so I subconsciously kept other abusive relationships because abuser felt like family.

This painting is inspired by my recent trip to #China. Growing up there I always had poor health and would cough up a lot of phlegm and every time I went back I would bring a smog mask. This time I forgot to pack mine so the first few days back I thought I could just tough it out
I ended up developing a fever, coughing none stop, and my lungs burned so much. As a child I didn’t even notice the pain because I was so used to it, but now I couldn’t even survive a few days. My SO who went with me also developed headaches and fever.
