Imagine people think you stole your own child or you are just the nanny… I don’t get why people have such closed minds to think that parents can’t have kids that do not look like them... like why is there this negative idea behind a black woman adopting a white child? #njcurj
It is sad that there are many transracial adoptive families that have to defend themselves all the time because of things like racism and misconceptions exist… #njcurj
If you plan on going for transracial adoption make sure that you check your own biases and prejudices because just as much as other peoples can hurt so can your own… make sure you understand and educate yourself #njcurj

The topic that I choose for my social media project and manifesto is on abortion rights. Many women have struggle with getting access to have abortions and that is because most clinics that provides abortions is either far away from the female patient.#Njcurj
who wants the procedure or certain insurances does not cover the full amount for abortions. I remember when I got my first abortion at the age of 16 and I did not know what it was or did any research on the pros and cons of an abortion. #Njcurj #abortionishealthcare
By time I gotten my second abortion I was able to understand more about the process of getting an abortion. This topic also reminds me of how a student from another university has come and talked to my fellow classmates and I during our reproductive justice class . #njcurj

Anybody that is pregnant, should be able to decide if they want to continue being pregnant. Abortion is a reproductive right that everyone should have access to. Abortion should be an option for anyone whose life is in danger of being pregnant. #njcurj
Abortion should not be taboo and no one should be ashamed of having one or getting one. This option can be a matter of life or death. In El Salvador, women are denied this right and are even imprisoned for any suspicion of getting an abortion. #njcurj
Their constitution has defined life beginning at conception and makes abortion punishable for 2 to 8 years in prison. Up to 30 to 50 years for aggravated homicide, which some women face for having a stillbirth, miscarriage, or obstetric emergency. #njcurj

Retire from being a STRONGBLACKWOMAN. Here is the hard truth. The STRONGBLACKWOMAN is a race-gender schema. Periodt. #njcurj #strongblackwoman
We glorify & praise SBW. It is propelled forward by pop culture, celebrities, politics, & forms of authority & credibility. The world tells the SBW how she should live, act, reproduce, accept and settle for. Black women accept this race-gender schema.
But the real meaning behind the STRONGBLACKWOMAN is problematic. #strongblackwoman

Obstetric Violence is a violation of women’s rights and is an issue that many people know nothing about. This pretty much means the mistreatment or disrespect of their human rights of any person giving birth in labor or in the prenatal period . #birthtrauma #njcurj
Mistreatment can happen on a wide ranging spectrum, some examples include humiliation, discrimination, lack of privacy, bullying & verbal or physical abuse, usually committed by nurses, doctors and other medical staff , sometimes even midwives. #njcurj
In some cases women are denied food and water&even forced into medical procedures without their consent. It occurs all over hospitals not only in the United States but in other parts of the world as well. Anecdotal rates reported that people of color are mistreated more. #njcurj

Black women are dying while giving birth at an accelerating rate and no one is doing anything about it. When the discussion of reproductive justice takes place, people discuss abortion rights and birth control, but can we discuss morality rates! #njcurj #blackmoralityrate
Over the years, the medical field is improving with modern day technology, yet the morality rates of black women and children are still increasing. The problem cannot go away until we take into accountability these factors are because of racism. #njcurj #blackmoralityrate
For black women to stop dying during childbirth, there needs to be a change in the treatment of black women. Economic hardship, oppression, stress, prenatal healthcare and genetics are the main causes I believe effect the life of a black pregnant woman.

#njcurj#IVF Journey The road leading to IVF is different for every woman. I had the opportunity to sit down with a young lady age 23. Her IVF Journey was unexpected as she seemed healthy. She was married and wanted to become pregnant. After countless attempts and failure.
#njcurj#IVF The couple sought help. Her OBGYN informed the of the unexpected news that she had blockage and unable to conceive naturally. The doctor then advised that she may be a candidate for IVF. She was given by her doctor the IVF clinic information to further discuss
#njcurj#IVF she, her husband and doctor called for a scheduled appointment at well known IVF clinic. Within two weeks she received her confirmed appointment at the IVF clinic. She unfortunately did not educate herself on the IVF procedure nor did her husband.
