Today is the first of daily thread I will be making, focusing on how we can adapt to increase effectiveness and decrease cost. Day 1: bloc strategy at the nightly DA's. TLDR: we cant easily sustain the current strat & should take advantage of the pigs' defensive position. #blmpdx
When we take a night off, they cannot actually rest. They have to be ready for if there is a secret action. If they declare an unlawful assembly, all riot geared up, and people scatter into the neighborhood streets (or move as one block), they have to stay prepared/chase further.
When they beat and shoot us, on the other side of the scale is the satisfaction and thrill they get from the violence. It is probably why none of them have quit despite clearly being miserable. Do not get me wrong- I am not advocating for softening out tactics.

Okay well I was 4 tweets into a draft of a call to action regarding Portland Business Alliance and the app shut down... I'll remake the thread later but bottom line: if you want to support the nightly protests but you're scared, PBA is where it's at #defendpdx
1) PBA's mostly corporate businesses, which means their defaults usually path of least restance re: $$$ and social opinion
2) They fund police and increase policing through downtown
3) Portland businesses are racist as hell
4) It's incredibly easy for them to respond to demands

Out and about: tell ppl when you're leaving the house and where you're going. Start shifting your behavior from going out alone to scheduling errands with buddies. Get a tazer/mace. Don't feel silly crossing the street if there's a car that's worrying you.
At home: get to know your neighbors, sleep with a weapon near your bed. Develop affirmations that your home is a safe space, have calls with comrades. Find friends that live nearby that are available to swing by during the night. Stop yourself from looking out windows.
Good news, everyone! All the nightly leaders at the JC have agreed - it's past time the people who have been on the ground this past month draft our own demands. Expect Mon/Tues to have a structure in which we craft demands based on specific problems the police create. #blmpdx
The plan is to have a strong platform to launch from come Friday.
(Just to clarify, not all of them are working on the prep for developing demands, but everyone who's been there after shit hits the fan are on board)

Reason one: optics. I know. It's overused. But we are going to need the people to join us in fighting back, and last night at the N precinct showed that every time we build a joyous space and it gets torn down, more people are radicalized. (2)
We have to prove, over and over, that they are behaving monstrously. It's not fair, it's not right, it's the way it is. We just don't have the numbers or trust to win a straight fight. That means we need to redirect our focus towards protecting each other when pigs attack (3)

When we show up at the JC, among everything else we are also saying - you want to abuse our community? You want to prey on people? Intimidate marginalized people? Well, you asked for it - here we are, fuckers. Come and get it. (2)
Theyre tired, they're pissed, they HATE us. Purely by being at the JC, you are risking arrest/the wrath of police. Those of us willing should find liberation in this. By accepting this danger as a community, we can protect each other. We are more than the sum of our parts. (Fin)

At *high-risk, decentralized* actions, the people responding to situations and coordinating MUST be the most capable. If there is a Black or PoC protestor there aligned with the purpose of the action & is capable, listen to them first. But PoC can make bad calls, and (2)
if a PoC starts calling for general de-escalation of tactics (like, say, diverting the JC force from returning or taking a bridge into a general march) at a high-risk action, they are either in the wrong action for them or they are WRONG. Some more examples: (2)
