So happy with the @ONS right now. Just VLOOKUPed from some Local Authority codes into this population table,... and EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. MATCHED. Every one. 100%. So happy.
I've sent them feedback.
Imagine how happy I'll be if this works first time.

Things I have done this morning:
1. Helped son record an animation with audio in Spanish.
2. Found all the weird stuff he needs for his art lesson.

Things I have not done this morning:
1. Submitted my (overdue) book chapter.
2. Read any paper drafts.
3. Reviewed anything.

#WFH
And then this afternoon - attempted to give two supervisions (tutorials) during which my son needed help with his art lesson and then smashed a pint pot, showering the living room in broken glass and requiring me to go and hoover to prevent injuries. #WFH going well then.
Now attempting to get the double sided sticky tape off the kitchen floor, which is there as a result of my lack of supervision of the art project. #FML.

J'aime bien cette carte, donc je vais maintenant,
* Essayer de la reproduire.
* Essayer de l'Γ©muler pour l'Angleterre (et Pays de Galles).
Mai moi je vais faire le travail avec QGIS.
3 sur 4. Pas mal.
Et voila, 4 sur 4. Le problème c'est que les liens officiel sont morts.

According to my commit log, it's been almost exactly 2 years since I started building @desanahq as we know it today. This is how it went down. A thread πŸ‘‡

#startup #developers #nodejs #javascript #ios #android #nativeapps #kubernetes
@desanaHQ When we (@michaelcobyburn and @SteveInJeans) started, I was keen to build something which would "scale". I thought "if this does well, it's going to have to cope with the demand". We had no money and we all worked full time doing other things.
As if things weren't challenging enough, I thought I'd also take the opportunity to learn some new things. Enter @nodejs "microservices" on @kubernetesio on @googlecloud. Oh, and we had to launch in time for National Coworking Day (18th May) which gave me less than 5 months...

This has a happy ending but it's ridiculous enough and has been aggravating enough to be a #FML. My mother-in-law has an old Toshiba laptop. It never came with a re-install CD, and she never created her own recovery media.
It turns out it had some version of Windows 8 where the key is installed in the firmware or something. Anyway, somehow, the hard drive was formatted. Like, secure erased.
I tried all the usual recovery things, but nothing could find a valid partition to recover - the drive was just genuinely empty. The recovery partition was gone and the recommended recovery media didn't exist.

Apparently I should've not copied and pasted things I read on the Internet into Terminal. Managed to demote my user account to a Standard one.

My machine had no other Admin account #FML
This old single-user mode & .AppleSetupDone removal workaround didn't work in Catalina.

What finally fixed the issue for me:

1. Cmd+R to enter Recovery mode
2. Enter my account password
3. Use Disk Utilities to mount the FileVault disk (Macintosh HD)
4. `rm /Volumes/Macintosh\ HD\ -\ Data/private/var/db/.AppleSetupDone`
5. `reboot`

Why do -0- Congresscritters know how to efficiently examine and cross-examine witnesses?

Look, I will gladly discount my fee and *come teach y'all* if it will help improve these God-awful spectacles
But that's why they have staff! They could easily higher the Ivy-est of Ivy grads to train them if they cared

That list would take all day πŸ˜‚

Basically –

Direct Qs: short, starting who / what / when / where / how

Cross Qs: very short, worded so that the only possible answer is "yes" or "no," and phrased in a way that doesn't reaffirm points that hurt your case

Want to take your pages to visit a bug farm in IE and Edge?

Put a bunch of stuff above your document's character set declaration:
Alternatively, want to avoid a visit to the bug farm? Put a charset=utf-8 attribute on your Content-Type response header, and put <meta charset=utf-8> as the FIRST line of your <HEAD>.
(When IE/Edge encounter the character set declaration, they must restart the parser from the beginning, interpreting with the declared character set. Beyond hurting perf, this restart process tends to expose bugs.)

Just received the most incredible early birthday present ever from partner-of-the-decade @sowmyarao_ (yes, my love can be bought with the right stuff) πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ˜»πŸ˜»πŸ˜» #OculusRift #MuchExcite
Best thing - this is a 2 part present. One being the Rift itself, the second being the pleasure to be derived from researching and tinkering and rummaging for deals, to find the most cost effective way to power the Rift.
It's going to be a good birthday month 😬

PS: Also shout out to @karthikb351 for being the kuruvi and transporting a package of record proportions. πŸ˜˜πŸ˜›
