Why I think this decade could be the next golden age of Tamil cinema (after the 80's), a thread🧵

@baradwajrangan and @RaunaqMangottil I think you'll like this thread :)
Many consider the 1980's as the golden age of Tamil cinema because of some of it's greatest filmmakers like KB, #Bharathiraja, #BaluMahendra, #Mahendran etc arguably making their career best films in that period
I'll admit this decade of #Kollywood was off to a bit of a rocky start in 2020 vis a vis the pandemic with only few films even getting released but below are the filmmakers that I think will do their career best in this decade make it a great one for Tamil cinema! :

Here goes the thread..

My Favourite Top 15 Tamil films of 2021 👇🏻. #Karthicdm #Karthicdm_Reviews #Tamilcinema #Kollywood
15. #KamalifromNadukaveri
Sincere attempt of feel good film with a good message. Casting and performance were good. But cliched scenes and weak screenplay in second half were let downs. more like a educational movie. High school students and their parents can watch.
14. #Teddy New attempt for tamil cinema. Decent songs and good acting. lack of creativity and weak script were major cons. Decent fantasy comedy entertainer. one time watchable.

Watched #SarpattaParambarai yesterday night along with my Dad. Both of us loved it. I have never seen my Dad enjoying a movie like this in a long time. That's the testament to @beemji's effort in the movie. He has delivered one of the finest sports films in Indian cinema. 1/7
@beemji is a fluent, evocative filmmaker who ensures that the movie is well written, expertly staged & beautifully edited. The rise, fall & rise of Kabilan reflects #PaRanjith's own career. #SarpattaParambarai is realistic, raw and gritty and will be a gem among his films. 2/7
@arya_offl as Kabilan has given one of the best performances of his career. Whether it's the boxing sequences, training montages or emotional scenes, he scores in every aspect. #Arya is ripped, riveting & #SarpattaParambarai will be a crowning glory in his filmography. 3/7

#KarunaKumar's #Palasa1978 is made with a lot of conviction. The detailing of Slang & Language used and groundedness aspect of the movie is something that needs to be lauded. Very good Music & good Direction supported by very good performances. Powerful ending. Do watch.

#ChintuKaBirthday is just fine. It has its moments. The trailer looked very promising, but the film did not have much to offer. Few decisions look forced & the "emotional punch" the makers were aiming at did not land for me. Nevertheless, makes for a good family watch.

#ArunKarthick's #Nasir breaks your heart so quickly, you'll take a lot of time to recover. Beautifully shot and edited, the film will resonate with you for sure. It only takes a second for things to go out of hands and Arun pulls that off with such perfection. Must watch.
