@ACLU_NH found that the SoS was discarding HUNDREDS of absentee ballots each election without warning due to perceived handwriting discrepancies -- often due to age or disabilities. #NHSoS #21stin21

Something I have tried to express in the past, but never quite had the words for:

The camera in a first person game is a window into a character's perception and situational awareness - it's not the simulation of an eyeball.
When someone enters a room, they build up an awareness of the room, using their eyes, ears, and their overall physical presence in the space.

That's what you're showing.
When you try to realistically simulate the head articulation, it screws so badly with a player's sense of agency, constantly mugging them of control of their window into the character's perception.

Read Taleb’s new-ish book “Skin in the Game” this past week. Here are my top highlights/underlines, along with my (less valuable) accompanying notes. Curious what others took away.

Why it’s important to keep asking “why” until you reduce the macro to the micro. Reduces the hiding places of fools.
“You will never fully convince someone that he is wrong; only reality can.”
“By definition, what works cannot be irrational…If something stupid works (and makes money), it cannot be stupid.”

Experience discovers wisdom, because many more things sound correct than are correct.
