On #DDay74, I’m thinking about Bedford, Va which sent 34 young Virginians into battle on #DDay. That day, 19 of them died, and four more gave their lives by the end of the Normandy campaign.
No American town sacrificed more that day, and today Bedford is home to the National D-Day Memorial, commemorating the Bedford Boys and the 10,000+ allied soldiers who gave their lives 74 years ago today.
Today is a somber reminder of the incredible bravery of those who landed on the beaches of Normandy and behind enemy lines on #DDay. Our country is forever indebted to the US and allied troops who led the way in liberating Europe from the Nazis. #DDay74

The DOJ, and in particular Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein, should be congratulated for their work. DOJ’s recent moves to hold China accountable are important in exposing some of the threats posed by China as it attempts to pursue economic and technological dominance over the US.
While legal action is important, a truly effective response will require a coordinated approach with our allies and a comprehensive strategy to protect our national security and enhance U.S. competitiveness and resiliency.
We have to punch back against China’s malign activities – but we also have to do more than play defense if we’re going to truly check China’s bad behavior.

I am glad that cooler heads prevailed to avoid an unnecessary government shutdown.
This will ensure that federal workers across Virginia continue to receive their paychecks through the holidays, while allowing the White House time to decide whether it truly wants to go all-in on an outdated, ineffective approach to the challenge of improving border security.
Although I voted in favor of the continuing resolution, I remain disappointed with the short-sighted budgetary dysfunction that leaves federal agencies operating on one stop-gap measure after another, unable to function on any long-term basis.

10:45 AM: G Company, 3rd Battalion, 505th has been controlling a checkpoint going into Ste- Mere-Eglise for ~ 2 hours. At ~ 10:45 AM, a German force of 2 companies of infantry, supported by 3 small tanks & 3 tracked guns attacks thee roadblocks.
Myth or Fact? Did Lt. Colonel Ben Vandervoort, commander of 2-505, really order Paratroopers from the 101st to carry him on a cart as famously depicted in the movie "The Longest Day"?

Thread: The 320th Barrage Balloon Battalion – the first African American unit in the segregated US Army to come ashore on D-Day. #DDay
All films about the storming of Omaha Beach in France on June 6, 1944 don’t show any black soldiers. Most textbooks never mention them, but they were there, fighting against tyranny — all while dealing with it at home and in the military.
The 320th were charged with raising hydrogen-filled balloons over the beaches anchored to steel cables. Tucked under the 125-pound gasbags were small bombs .

Until the beaches were cleared, the 320th were infantry troops as well. Digging trenches and round up German troops.

So the house I’m living in right now, some weird stuff used to happen. Anyways, before we moved into this house in 2006 there was a huge cotton factory which got knocked down and houses were built here.
This all started about a year or so after we moved in, at first it was minor. So the first initial encounter I had was when I was home alone once and I was on the computer which was against the wall so I couldn’t see anything behind me.
