I have a theory on this.

Obi-Wan Kenobi split the kids up for a reason. Leia goes with Bail Organa. She gets a name change. A title. Offspring of a powerful Force user, likely herself to become a powerful force user, and royalty.
That sounds pretty much like the resume of somebody you'd want to have handy if you hoped someday to usurp Palpatine and put somebody else on the Imperial Throne.

The problem is Anakin Skywalker is alive. If he gets even a HINT that he has offspring, he will hunt them to the ends of the galaxy. Especially Luke.
Fatherless Anakin, who has daddy issues out the wazoo, is guaranteed to eternally pursue his son.

So Kenobi takes Luke *to Anakin's home planet.* He leaves Luke with *Anakin's mother's family.* It is literally the single most obvious thing he can do short of leaving Luke on Darth Vader's doorstep.
Kenobi makes Luke easy to find. And when Vader finds him, Kenobi will be there. Waiting. And *this* time, he'll kill him.
There's just one little flaw with Kenobi's plan.
