Okay, new thread: We're going into A New Hope, which I haven't seen in so long that I will hilariously remember almost none of it. It's a DVD/blu-ray set I picked up on a whim for like $30, because you can't NOT afford the OT at that point. #sithmas
This movie is one year older than me, so to me it's just STAR WARS. I resisted "A New Hope" for a long time because iT'S STAR WARS DAMMIT. I assume this is the revised New Coke edition. Nice bright/crisp picture so far. #sithmas
Here is something else I wanted to see: going from the cinematography and visual effects of 2006 and 2016 to, uh, 1977. Maybe it's easier to go from "gritty" Rogue One than it is from shiny Revenge of the Sith. #sithmas
I can't remember what it was like to see Darth Vader for the first time. Or REALLY the first time. It's really an (intentionally) off-putting character design, and he walks in without context. Alternately, Rogue One gives you *nightmare* context. #sithmas
Compared to the end of Rogue One, Vader strides through the dead Rebels casually, like, "ah, good, I don't have to stab a motherfucker." #sithmas
I truly think that the best, most consistent, most polished, most effective, most enduring aspect of the Star Wars series has been John Williams' music. #sithmas

The reason I haven't rewatched the OT in so long is that these movies were on in the background all the time when I was a young child. My mom basically turned on HBO every single time they were on. It was just kind of ambient. #sithmas
Another reason I've never had a crush on Harrison Ford is, honestly, because my mother did, and I kind of associate Leia and Han with my parents. Bear in mind, when Return of the Jedi came out, I was four. #sithmas
