What do we do?

I assist two editors and read submissions, draft copy, go to meetings, and get coffee (just kidding!) -SR

I do a lot of copy for promo items and ads. I’m on a team of four people and assist 3 people. I also get to work on early reader books -CV #AskAnAssistant
What's one thing you love about your job?

I love the type of promotional materials I get to help create with my team! We come up with some really fun stuff, and the people I work with.- CV

What’s 1 thing we wish we would’ve known?

Editorial isn’t an introverted career. You are constantly meeting people, talking w/ people, or going to meetings -SR

I found out in my 3rd year of college from a HarperCollins Q&A they were holding at school. It was perfect for me. -CV #AskAnAssistant
I knew from my 2nd year after joining the staff of the college lit mag HARBINGER. Publishing just seemed perfect for me so I worked towards that goal -SR #AskAnAssistant

I applied online through the Scholastic site and I did an in-person interview and wrote a reader’s report -SR

I also applied online, did 2 interviews in one day, and heard back within a week -CV #AskAnAssistant

as of today i've written every single day for the past year and i'm SO proud of myself! let's carry that streak to day 366 and beyond! ✨
some notes, because i think it's important to clarify:

i do not ascribe to the notion that you have to write every single day of your life to be a good writer or, as some claim, to even deserve to call yourself a writer at all, because that's just bonkers
this did not start as an intentional challenge. i started writing a project a year ago that i was incredibly invested in and for which i had an uninterruptible flow of ideas for. i wrote every day because i needed to tell that story every day.

Right away the failing @nytimes tips it's hand and reminds everyone that this was all reported on at length a year ago, and they fail to realize everyone could watch Rod Rosenstein at a hearing in public for hours just this week.

Also, he already denied this in May of 2017

Hi everyone! My name's Ian Wang, I'm a second-year English student here at Cambridge, and I'm the first of a series of students who are taking over the Library's social media this term to talk about decolonising the curriculum.
Since it's Shakespeare term at the moment, I thought I'd talk about postcolonial approaches to Shakespeare. When I went through Shakespeare term last year, one of the things that frustrated me was the near-total absence of postcolonial approaches in the teaching material.
Aside from a cursory nod in a reading list or a lecture, hardly anyone in the faculty, students and academics alike, seemed to want to engage with Shakespeare's presentation of race and otherness, even in plays like Othello or The Tempest where those issues loom large.

A thread in English about what most of my Swedish tweets are about: austerity and disability politics. Feel free to spread the word about the developments in Sweden to activists and critical thinkers elsewhere.
Today, the Swedish disability movement won an important victory: the Swedish government declared that it will change the law to counter a court ruling that would abolish personal assistance, an absolutely vital service for independent living.
The government has also decided to freeze reviews for assistance until a public commission is finished a year from now. This is all good news, considering the developments during the last few years.
