Really. Guardian journalist @TimAdamsWrites gets a free holiday then writes a puff piece promoting a private system where a private company owns the address system in the developing world? What went wrong here @KathViner? Where are the Guardian's nerds?

The address map is basic national infrastructure. To see the Guardian promote a privatised address system is like watching them promote privatisation of public streets. That this comes from a place of technical ignorance only makes it sadder.

The privatised address system being promoted by the Guardian here is such a bad idea it's created a world of parody sites
And anyone suggesting parallels - with Google owning Google maps or the military developing GPS - is wrong. Those both use longitude and latitude. The Guardian is promoting a privatised address system. A privatised map. With payments due. This is the least Guardian-y idea ever.
