C/p from a friend on the front lines:

if you’re genuinely unable to be involved in organizing-activism-protesting-whatever, or anything related, either for a time, or at all, here are some ideas for things you can do to help anyway, because it all matters, and it’s all needed—
• be loud: amplify what you hear and learn, loudly proclaim what is right and what is wrong, engage and challenge the people around you, on social media and in your physical life, whenever and wherever you can. this is base minimum, you should be doing this no matter what.
• if you see something, say something: if you witness oppression taking place, challenge it. if you see ICE rolling through your town, boost the signal, hell, even follow and record them if you can, do the same for the regular cops, wherever possible.
if you see violent bigotry taking place, intervene to the best of your ability.

• care work: do you know people who are organizing? hold space for them. feed them. listen to them. make space for them to relax, decompress, and talk about the stress of what they’re doing.
give them a place to crash. throw them some monetary aid when/if you’re able. check in with them, ask them if they need anything you can offer, and really mean it.

• educate: this is related to the first suggestion re: challenging the people in your life,
but perhaps more specifically. if you have knowledge, share that knowledge. take the time to educate yourself as well. this is where writing falls in. the creation of educational materials and propaganda is essential.
• network/connect: so remember those people you may know who’re organizing? connect them with people you know that may be able to help them. connect them with people who are looking to get involved, and may have the ability to do so. you know a lawyer? a professor?
a doctor? a mechanic? a farmer? someone with a skill that might come in handy? engage and connect.

• adapt what you have: whatever skills and abilities you do have right now in the moment, anything ranging from a trade skill to a high degree of emotional intelligence,
anything, ask yourself how you can use it in service of the cause.

• share your resources: this one is self-explanatory. and also related to the previous point. but very important.

all of these things matter so much, and we need every single one of you.
if you do any combination of these things, even on days, weeks, months, years, or lifetimes when you can’t do anything else, you are part of it, as far as I’m concerned anyway.

welcome to the underground.
