DAG Rosenstein, testifying before House Judiciary, is asked why he hasn't recused. With a smile, he replies: "I can assure you, that if it were appropriate for me to recuse, I'd be more than happy to do so and let somebody else handle this. But it's my responsibility to do it."

Very heated exchange right now between Rep. Jordan and Rosenstein.

J: Why are you keeping information from Congress?
R: I am not keeping any information from Congress that it's appropriate for... (he is cut off)

J: in a few minutes, Mr. Rosenstein, I think the House of Representatives is gonna say something different
R: I don't agree with you congressman, I don't believe that's what they're going to say, and if they do they'll be mistaken. They will be mistaken.

Recap: Republicans have accused DOJ/FBI of failing to comply with a subpoena for docs related to the Clinton emails investigation. DOJ/FBI have said they're producing as fast as they can, but also that it would not be appropriate to produce some of the requested materials

Jordan asked Rosenstein about reports that House Intel staffers claimed Rosenstein threatened to subpoena their phone calls and emails (during a mtg about the Russia investigation). Rosenstein said it's not true, and quipped that you can't subpoena phone calls

Jordan asked Rosenstein: Who should we believe — staffers that we know and trust, or DOJ/FBI officials accused of hiding information?

Rosenstein: "You should believe me because i'm telling the truth and I'm under oath."
