A shocking concept that. It was intended to be read, debated and adopted by ordinary citizens. It is not complex though it is elegant. It’s central aim —preservation of liberty— remains intact and has expanded to more and more people, of course, at home and now abroad.
The ongoing, incremental expansion of liberty and literacy in the West and in a growing number of stable regimes aligned w/ the West is perhaps the best summary of the roll of the dice in 1787. To accomplish that we need to keep the rule set the same, as amended, and not distort.
The text is short. It’s easy to read. But refusal to do so, or the attempt to make the simple complex, is agenda driven posturing. For the debate with Justice Breyer, see hughhewitt.com/u-s-supreme-co… His answer to my question about his greatest disappointment remains very relevant.
