Should I give Ghostbusters 2016 another chance?
Fuck it.
The pre-title sequence is actually mostly passable until the underwhelming attack of the ugly colour scheme climax, which is just annoying to look at.
Sorry to throw shade, but this guy's acting is really bad.
Kristin Wiig is good, but everybody else so far is overacting, and the styles don't match. Scenes are a weird mix of meandering overlong conversations with quick cuts and slapdash editing – bad for establishing characters and especially tone.
Kate McKinnon is amazing, but her character here only works well with the more deadpan stuff. The wacky shtick doesn't stand out because almost everybody else is doing it, and it's all awkwardly clashing. This film isn't ruining my childhood, but it should've been a lot better.
I found this funny.
..this too.

Two gags I like in 20 minutes wouldn't be THAT bad a hit-rate for me if this film didn't have a hundred jokes every 10 seconds.
I'm now halfway through. It's kind of fun seeing these women riffing and doing weird science stuff. It's the BIG jokes and BIG set pieces that don't work. There is stuff to like here.
The film had settled into a nice groove I was honestly enjoying despite the jarring parts and flat jokes, but this concert scene is a big mess. The studio put too much money into this.
I had no memory of Omar from The Wire being in this. On that cliffhanger, I'm taking a break. Film's overproduced and bloated, but I'm still finding much of it to be okay-ish. If they had spent more time on the script and were given less money this could have been very good.
