I truly can't believe how many people think any ol' person can show up, write legislation and be effective.
Do people truly not know that Congress has vast responsibilities beyond writing bills?
Do people not understand that powerful congressional committees control priorities, policies and spending for everything from intelligence to social services to the military?
Legislating is the ultimate team sport. Voting is .1% of the game.
This belief that you can slot in any person and then just sit back and watch the laws change because of the force of their personality is so bizarre.
It doesn't work like that. At all. Ever.
We need National Civics Education.
