About 5 years ago I started taking learning how to write well very seriously. Not a single day goes by that I'm not glad I did.

Designers, learn how to write. It's a skill that pays dividends like no other.
It's the best design tool you will ever have. Writing with clarity, brevity, and lucidity will change the way you think and speak.

How to get there is straightforward: read and write a lot.
The two books I credit most are Bird By Bird and Elements of Style.
Some cheap tricks for better technical writing:
- Avoid lists of more than three things (unless your goal is to tire the reader)
- Use "they" pronouns to avoid clumsily futzing with she/he and alienating readers
- Write with honesty and brevity. They usually come together.
Heck, EVERYONE should learn this. Everyone stands to benefit from practicing how to write with honesty and clarity.
