Experience working in international environments is probably the most valuable professional attribute for the workforce of a global Britain.
Guess what ending Freedom of Movement makes it harder for young Brits to get...
So if your plan was for the UK to become a big global trading superpower after Brexit... Brexit itself screws that plan.
If your plan was to create more job opportunities for young people after Brexit... Brexit itself screws that plan.
Not only would Brexit mean the government would be so busy trying to handle the consequences of Brexit that real investment in (non-London) industry/jobs would be delayed for decades... But young Brits would miss out on stuff like this:

I don't have a party to run / election to win, so maybe it's rich of me to stand on principle; maybe I'm naive, but...
I'm not willing to pretend that a good Brexit deal is possible just because I'm scared people (who I should have won over on Brexit) might think I'm ruining it.
I get why some might choose that due to their own strategic priorities. But if we go down the path of "keep trying Brexit until every last person is convinced it can't work":
a) We risk crashing out.
b) People would blame the EU not Brexit #HowWeGotInThisMess
c) It's dishonest
🔻The Tories want to endanger the Belfast Agreement which the EU won't allow. And even this Brexit will be rejected.
🔻Labour's Brexit must meet the 6 tests. That means Single Market & Customs Union. Parliament would never approve that for the same reasons we're stuck now.

Much shorter THREAD (I promise!): Freedom of movement. A few people have mentioned this - and they have a point. To my mind, the end of freedom of movement is far and away the worst thing about Brexit. It's not a 'WIN' - it's a massive loss.
1) There's something extremely strange about how the UK's treated freedom of movement. In many EU states, after 90 days in the country, visitors have to register, and need ID cards to pay tax, start a business, claim benefits, access healthcare.
2) Yet when UK discussed ID cards during Blair government, it was part of the whole 90 days detention for suspected terrorists thing. New Labour was, at times, remarkably authoritarian - and the proposal failed because of fears over government having access to private information

Yes, @theresa_may. Ending freedom of movement for EU citizens means ending it for UK citizens.

Say the words out loud. Own them.
May actually can’t see:

That people build lives with people from different places, in different places.

That movement brings opportunity, for enriching lives, for openness of culture.

That movement is something cherished by millions.

Free movement is a triumph, not a terror.
Will whichever broadcaster who eventually lands the most pointless debate ever pin down both @theresa_may & @jeremycorbyn on what ending freedom of movement actually means for Brits here & in the EU, & on the impact on EU citizens here?

Evidence that you do has, I'm afraid to say, been scant, as has evidence that you consider EU citizens in the EU, or indeed any non UK citizen to be part of what you consider to be your nation. As I far as I am concerned though, they are. 3/

Whatever happens, the UK is set to end freedom of movement after the transitional time (assuming there will be one and we won't crash out without a deal). I think there are serious reasons now to reconsider that decision. Thread. 1/
The Brexit white paper published today still would allow for visa-free travel and also would "support businesses to provide services and to move their talented people". Think about this for a moment. 2/

On the face of it, it sounds great. Businesses can still hire people they need and move their talented people around. But when you think of it, it means more power to businesses and less power to workers, who already now are very disempowered compared to businesses. 3/
