I had a client who instructed me to write a PRIVILEGED (wait for it) exculpatory memorandum to PROVE to his junior partners he'd done everything right. He then told them about it but refused to give it to them because ... it was privileged.
Of course, his check cleared, so whatevs.
Everyone feels a need to make a guy who's basically an open book of insecurity, arrogance, unearned self-confidence, lust, greed, and egoism into something more complicated than what he is. Occam's Razor, the real thing and the pop culture version, are your friends.
