People would be a lot more sympathetic to this concern if the same people and networks that expressed it when they are the targets didn't willingly promote similar hostility and attacks aimed at political opponents.

You can't have guests on every day accusing Republicans of being responsible for mass murder, crimes against humanity, and fascism, then lecture people about the tone of political rhetoric.

As I've said a million times, Trump takes advantage of the Press' low credibility to use them as a foil, but he's not the reason that they lack credibility or people view them as the enemy.

Just a few months ago, many were openly debating whether it was alright to for mobs to confront and attack Republicans at restaurants. Maybe those who don't like the press facing this type of hostility will recognize how wrong it was to pretend that was a defensible position.

This trend isn't new. Only one side is ever held to any standards when it comes to political rhetoric by the press, and it's exhausting even for those of us on the right who are fairly critical of Trump.

And that post was long before the GOP was accused of killing people and being just like Nazis for net neutrality repeal, tax cuts, ACA repeal, opposing unrelated gun control, immigration actions similar to previous admins etc. etc.

None of which led to push back in the MSM.

Sorry for continuing to come back to this, but hard to forget when Rubio's family had to deal w death threats after networks had on anti-gun activists for a month straight accusing him of being complicit in killing children w/o any push back.

No issue w/ hostile rhetoric then.

So yes, Trump is wrong. I'm happy to call out his divisive rhetoric, and it's especially disgraceful coming from a POTUS. But I don't want to hear a lecture about it from the people who think it's only wrong when aimed at them or one particular side.
