So, yesterday I walked home from work late at night.

A man says: “hello beautiful” leaning into me as he walks past.

First instinct is to push him away and tell him to f’ck off and not invade my personal space, but I look around and the street is empty.

What would that stranger do if I retaliate? I make a Quick risk assessment. Course of action: express disgust quietly and walk home in fear as quickly as possible.

Ruminating to myself as to why men get to rule the streets at night and women get only to be scared.

I know women go through this regularly.

If you’re a man and you think this is funny or harmless and that somehow you’re entitled to our appreciation to your compliment, you’re wrong, JUST STOP.
