1/... Bothers me when I highlight clear examples of Islamophobia and discrimination and people who could in no way understand tell me I'm wrong.

Those who have not experienced it just dismissing it and saying it isn't happening demonstrates a total lack of understanding
2/... This is completely true with Labour anti-Semitism. If members of the Jewish community are raising and highlighting this issue, it is 100% there and you cannot dismiss it.

It is being highlighted for a reason.
3/... BELIEVE ME no one wants these issues. I can guarantee you that no one wants to be having these debates and arguments.

Given the choice racism and discrimination would be no issue. It is being raised because people want it to stop. There's no other reason for it.
4/... All forms of racism and discrimination needs to be eradicated from politics and society and this will only happen when brave individuals stand up when they see or hear injustices.

Then it is the responsibility of people in power to do something about it.

Official White House line is that Gaza deaths is 'a propaganda attempt' by Hamas and Palestinians. That was said during a press briefing.
White House: "We believe that Hamas is responsible for these tragic deaths. [And the] terrorist group bears responsibility for the entire situation right now."
"The responsibility for these tragic deaths rests squarely with Hamas. Hamas is intentionally and cynically provoking this response and as the secretary of state (Mike Pompeo) said, Israel has a right to defend itself."

(Thread - source: Channel 4) - Whistle-blower claims in the Brexit campaign people were "lied to” and that the EU Referendum “wasn't legitimate." He says Vote Leave broke the law and exceeded legal spending limits. There are also links to Cambridge Analytica.
Vote Leave was only allowed to spend £7m on its campaign. But there were scores of other separate campaign groups who could each spend up to £700,000, if they registered as permitted participants. Spending by these groups had to remain independent of the main campaigns.
Whistleblower tells C4 he was a Vote Leave volunteer. But Stephen Parkinson (Theresa May's Political Secretary) assigned him to another Brexit group called BeLeave. BeLeave was based inside the Vote Leave headquarters.

People rarely get upset because what you said is wrong, but are commonly upset because what you said is right.

If something is nonsense, people can laugh at it and not care.

But if something they don't like rings true, they'll feel the need to lash out & tell you you're wrong.
If you don't deliberately go out of your way to be provocative and offensive, and yet you offend people anyway.

You're offending them because you're right, not because you're wrong.
Take when I said about people monetising the manosphere with BS for instance

I didn't call anybody out by name or even refer to them

And yet a ton of people (people I wasn't even aware of) got offended & started piling on hate

Throw a stone blind and whoever it hits is guilty.

Edgy comedy is hilarious when you punch up and horrifying when you punch down.

If you don’t know the difference, go ahead and punch yourself.
Punching up = making fun of rich people, organizations, the privileged, anyone with power, yourself because you’re on stage.

Punching down = picking on mass shooting victims, disabled people, rape victims, marginalized groups, poor people, kids.
And if you do choose to roll the dice and punch down, it better be funny. It better have nuance. It better be informed. And you sure as hell better not bitch and act exasperated when some people get mad.

after looking through thousands of my saved screenshots from gab, i could only find 3 posts i'd saved from the synagogue shooter. that doesn't mean his posts weren't terrible -- on the contrary, it's because gab is so full of violent, hateful content that his did not stand out.
less than three weeks ago, the man who became a mass murderer today posted a comment about my body on a post made by a fascist who has been harassing and threatening me for nearly a year. four months ago he said i'm going to get "pussy cancer."
i am furious with myself for not seeing him for what he was when i first looked into him months ago. i am deeply unsettled that i spend so much time wading through content produced by these people and there's no way to tell which of them will become the next domestic terrorist.

1. Following the latest horror headline, I think it’s important to say / reiterate that being Jewish and the daughter / granddaughter of refugees makes me doubly, or maybe triply or quadruply, terrified of the proliferation and normalisation of #Islamophobia
2. That’s not to say that I’m not also very scared of the rise in anti Semitism - that would be impossible given what’s happening in say Hungary, Austria and Poland, and the acceptance of eg Soros conspiracy tropes here.
3. But the reach and respectability of #Islamophobia is really on another level. The lazy dismissals of its very existence because ‘Muslims aren’t into a race’ reach right into parts of the supposedly progressive left, although obviously spearheaded by the right.
