HEARTBREAKING RAIDERS LOSSES; 2015 - PRESENT

A THREAD -
R3, 2015 – Dragons 22, Raiders 20
It felt like a new era in Canberra as new recruits Soliola, Hodgson and Austin all crossed in the first half hour to propel the Raiders to an 18-0 lead. The Dragons wrestled back momentum in the 2nd half, scoring a 76th minute winner.
R11, 2015 – Bulldogs 41, Raiders 34
The Dogs lead 26-0 after 17 minutes before a brave Raiders fightback levels the scores at 34-34 in the 75th minute. Josh Reynolds kicks a FG from the sideline in the 80th minute to break the deadlock before Mbye scores off the short kick off.
R15, 2015 – Cowboys 21, Raiders 20
Croker kicks a penalty goal in the 78th minute to tie the game at 20-20. Thurston has two attempts at FG charged down in the final minute before nailing one after the siren to sink the Raiders.
R19, 2015 – Sharks 21, Raiders 20
The Raiders take a 20-18 lead with 6 minutes to go, before Fifita is ruled to have knocked on scoring the match winning try. He was however ruled to have been taken out, allowing the Sharks to level on the siren. A Holmes FG wins it in GP.
R22, 2015 - Tigers 20, Raiders 18
The Raiders lead 12-4 at half time thanks to a Shannon Boyd double. The Tigers score a number of long distance tries in the second half, with Tedesco's in the 72nd minute the final blow. Shillington is sent off in the final minute of his 200th.
R23, 2015 - Sea Eagles 26, Raiders 24
The Raiders lead 24-16 with 10 minutes to play, only for two late Manly tries to steal victory. Brett Stewart's 78th minute winner is later deemed to be illegal, however it was not checked. The sixth heartbreaking loss at GIO in 2015.
R4, 2016 – Titans 24, Raiders 20
The Raiders lead 18-6 at HT and 20-12 with 6 minutes to go. A FPN brain explosion off the 75th minute kick off gifts the Titans a chance, which they take via a John Olive try in the 79th minute. This author still questions if he got it down.
R9, 2016 - Panthers 19, Raiders 18
Not the last time the Panthers/Bathurst will feature. Rapana scores in the 74th minute to level the game, before a Wallace FG from behind an illegal wall gives the Panthers the lead with 67 seconds left.
R10, 2016 - Dragons 16, Raiders 12
At the time I thought this game would never be topped. Croker scores in the 77th minute to level at 12-12, breaking the Raiders point scoring record. Sezer hits the post with a FG in GP before Wighton throws an intercept after the GP/HT siren.
QF, 2016 – Sharks 16, Raiders 14
The Raiders burst out of the blocks leading 12-0 early. The Sharks get into the grind and run over the Raiders following injury to Hodgson. A 75th minute Whitehead penalty gifts the Sharks the lead. Ennis does the Viking Clap. Sad.
PF, 2016 – Storm 14, Raiders 12
A season filled with hope and potential is crushed at the hands of another close finals loss. A Jack Wighton second half sin-bin combined with Edrick Lee’s hands cost the Raiders dearly, as they fall agonisingly close to their first GF since 1994.
R1, 2017 - Cowboys 20, Raiders 16.
Leilua caps off a rocks & diamonds game with a 77th minute equaliser, before the Raiders are disallowed a try in GP due to a forward pass. A Thurston FG hits the bottom of the crossbar and sits in the in-goal as Santo watches Cooper score.
R4, 2017 - Broncos 13, Raiders 12
The Raiders stage a late fightback to level the scores at 12-12 in the 73rd minute. A Junior Paulo error in the following set gifts Brisbane possession and a Kahu FG hits the post and bounces in to win it for the Broncos.
R8, 2017 - Sea Eagles 20, Raiders 18
The game that shifted the momentum of the season. The Raiders led 18-14 with 6 minutes to go, before a Tom Turbo try levelled the scores. Walker misses a sitter to put Manly ahead but gets revenge with a 40m penalty goal in GP for the win.
R13, 2017 - Sea Eagles 21, Raiders 20
Manly returned for a second dose of heartbreak in Round 13, with DCE the villain this time. A Croker penalty goal after FT sent the game into GP, where Junior Paulo again lost the ball. A DCE FG off the ensuing set won Manly a spiteful clash.
R14, 2017 - Panthers 24, Raiders 20
Probably the worst of the lot. The Raiders lead Penrith in a must-win clash 20-12 with two minutes to play. Two tries in Penrith's final two sets hands them a miraculous win and signals the start of a devastating streak against the Raiders.
R24 2017 - Panthers 26, Raiders 22
In a Sunday afternoon game with their season on the line, the Raiders once again lead Penrith late. This time, it's a Tyrone May try out of dummy half which gives Penrith the lead in the 72nd minute and sinks the Raiders for good.
R1, 2018 - Titans 30, Raiders 28.
An off-season of promises surrounding defence and game management amounts to nothing, as the Raiders blow an 18-0 lead. A Konrad Hurrell try in the 79th minute gives the Titans their first lead of the match and ensures the Raiders woes continue.
R2, 2018 - Knights 30, Raiders 28
The Raiders lose Leilua to injury early but do enough to lead Newcastle 28-20 after 63 minutes. Awful edge defence invites the Knights back into the game, before Austin shoots out of the line in the final minutes to gift Mata'utia the winner.
R3, 2018 - Warriors 20, Raiders 19.
The Raiders lead the Warriors 19-6 early in the 2nd half and 19-12 with 4 minutes to play. They then proceed to allow an Isaac Luke dummy half try and two field goals in the final minutes to make losing look like an art form.
R14, 2018 - Panthers 23, Raiders 22.
The Raiders lose Leilua to concussion in the opening minute but still lead 14-12 when Rapana is forced from the field. A brain snap from Havilii and errors from makeshift winger Hingano lead the Raiders to blow a 22-16 lead with 5 to go.
R16, 2018 - Broncos 26, Raiders 22.
Canberra jump out of the blocks, scoring in the first two minutes and eventually taking a 16-0 lead into HT. A Blake Austin shocker and comedy of errors allows the Broncos back into the game, eventually taking the lead in the 72nd minute.
R19, 2018 - Sharks 28, Raiders 24.
The Raiders, desperate to keep their season alive, trailed Cronulla 22-18 when the Sharks were awarded one of the more astounding tries in recent memory. Another incorrect forward pass ruling was the dagger, as Canberra's comeback fell short.
R21, 2018 - Panthers 40, Raiders 31
After leading 26-12 at HT, the Raiders fall apart in the second half, allowing Penrith to score 16 points in the final 11 minutes. This game marks the 4th straight time the Panthers have defeated the Raiders after trailing at the 70 min mark.
