I just... are we really putting justice for black people on the backs of black prosecutors? Have y’all met many black prosecutors? I have and the most times the only thing different from their white counterparts is their skin color.
Lawyers are a last line of defense. Prosecutors offer little to none. Once we’ve gotten there, the battle is ultimately half lost. The law is not on the side of the victim. The law won’t save us.
Three months ago I watched a man get out of prison after 20 years for a crime he didn’t do. The prosecutor knew it, but still wanted a conviction for her record. We managed to negotiate a plea. Articles called it justice. Really? Justice for who?
