More proof that star power isn’t earned. It just is. Kerber can win all the slams in the world, but Venus, who hasn’t won a slam in 10 years will always be the bigger the draw. Always.
Sharapova, Venus, Serena, Hingis, and so on were stars before they had a slam. The slams didn’t make them; they made the slams. At the moment, the slams make Kerber and she’ll always only be as good as her last one.

I just... are we really putting justice for black people on the backs of black prosecutors? Have y’all met many black prosecutors? I have and the most times the only thing different from their white counterparts is their skin color.
Lawyers are a last line of defense. Prosecutors offer little to none. Once we’ve gotten there, the battle is ultimately half lost. The law is not on the side of the victim. The law won’t save us.
Three months ago I watched a man get out of prison after 20 years for a crime he didn’t do. The prosecutor knew it, but still wanted a conviction for her record. We managed to negotiate a plea. Articles called it justice. Really? Justice for who?

Lower ranked law schools are very diverse, but the Top 20 law schools in the country are still very white. The bulk of large firms pull from these schools, so it follows that firms will not be very diverse.
The field thrives off of prestige. Prestige in the field is proximity to whiteness. Proximity to whiteness has always been why the top 20 schools remain the top 20 schools. It’s why Harvard, Yale, and Stanford are always top three, playing hot potato with the positions.
Also doesn’t help that POC have been indoctrinated into believing their value is tied to higher ranked schools, thus prestige. It’s the reason people have to denote they went to an ivy or put double ivy in their profiles.
