One of the disturbing things in the Pennsylvania report is the way it depicts a culture of deception. In Dante’s Inferno, liars are in one of the deepest regions of hell.
One of the reasons (not the only one of course) why sexual abuse is incompatible with the gospel is that it has a special power to generate deception

The selling of quick solutions is of a piece with disbelief in the medical (and general) community. Indeed, the fact that we use language such as "believe," the language of faith, speaks to more than the invisibility of the disease on our bodies & on conventional empirical tests.
There is a deeper aversion at work, which is facilitated by the word "fatigue," which people perceive as a transient state. "Fatigue" is something to be overcome, and our individualistic society cannot brook the idea that someone cannot master it w/o some flaw in our character.
But at some level I think people really *do get it: who hasn't had the nightmare of being unable to move in the face of a threat? These are *primal anxieties. I believe these deep-seated fears lie behind both medical/popular skepticism & the initiative to sell quick fixes.

Cherry-picking the racist, sexist, and/or sexually prejudiced views of specific Socialist theorists and/or revolutionaries of the past in an effort to discredit ALL of their contributions to the science, and/or humanity.
Both Marx and Engels expressed racist views.

Fred Hampton referred to some as “faggots.”

If you look back far enough into the pasts of humanity’s most influential leaders, you will almost always find problematic sentiments that they have shared, or even problematic behavior!
That said, there is something to be learned from almost everyone...

We need to be analyzing all positions expressed by the most notable theorists/revolutionaries of the past while also avoiding dogmatic, cult-like worship or fetishization of said theorists/revolutionaries.
