Households are increasingly filling the budget gap, too. They are paying out of pocket for services and private insurance costs have been on the rise over the past few years. The costs are crippling many people (2/6)
There’s also difficulties accessing vital services such as home care and mental health care. People are concerned they are paying a high price for a system that can’t meet their needs in a timely way (3/6)
It’s clear our two-tier system needs to be reformed. Not tinkering at the margins, but a system-wide overhaul. Sláintecare is the roadmap to reforming our system towards universal health care (4/6)
A system where access is determined by need, not ability to pay. Where residents have an entitlement to a basket of services and they won’t be pushed into financial hardship by paying for it. The public system would meet their needs (5/6)
